Postpartum Depression

So I finally admitted it, now what?

I finally admitted that I have PPD and told my husband. I have a doctor's appointment to check my Mirena tomorrow and am debating on whether I should talk to him about it. What are my options? Is he just going to prescribe me something, or should I just give it time? Thank you.

  • I'm sorry that you are feeling like this.  It sucks.  But, it will get better!

YES!!!!!!!!!  Say something to your doctor tomorrow.  If he does not ask, YOU bring it up.  Tell him that you think that you are experiencing PPD and would like to talk about options.  Personally, I believe in better living through pharmaceuticals, but not everyone feels that way.  See what he says.  If you decide not to try meds, be certain that you get set-up to talk with a therapist who has experience working with mothers with PPD.

You are doing the right thing for you and your family.  While what you are feeling sucks, it won't always be like this.  The sooner you talk to your doctor about it, the better you will feel!

  • yes, mention it to your doctor.  they may prescribe you something, there are also non-medication things you can try to help too.  i think "giving it time" was the worst thing i did, because for me, it didn't get better, and i wasted time feeling likeshit instead of enjoying my kid.
