Sleep advice for my 7 week old

My 7 week old has been sleeping in her bouncer since week 1. I had tried the pack and play and swaddling when I first brought her home, but she woke up so much and I was so exhausted that when the bouncer worked, I stuck with it.  The past week or 2 she has started waking more than her usual 2 or 3 times, to 4 or 5.  I'm not sure why, not to eat but really just to be awake and wants to play or something. So, I decided to transition back to swaddling in the pnp last night since I figured if I'm going to be up I might as well try now.

Last night she slept about 2 hours in the beginning and 2 hours at the end, but in the middle woke up every hour to hour and a half!  I would rock her and give her a little boob (not doing this tonight every time). She wasn't hungry the majority of the time but it would make her fall asleep even if she only sucked for 3 to 5 min.  I am worried I will be overfeeding her, so I don't want to do that.  I had her swaddled in the miracle blanket with 1 arm free and it seemed to work ok.  Any advice???  I would like her to at least go back to sleeping 3 or 4 hour stretches if nothing else!

  • I had a similar issue.  DS would only sleep in the swing.  All of a sudden, he started hating the swing.  I started bed-sharing with him and he STTN.  I was desperate.  Now, I am working on getting him to sleep in his crib and it seems to be working.  I bought the baby crack machine Click Here and started putting him down for naps in his crib.  That little $20 device knocks him out in seconds! I'm going to try it tonight and see if he will STTN in the crib instead of my bed.  Basically, my advice is to start transitioning your DD to the new location during daytime naps. That way, she gets used to it while you aren't exhausted.  Also, it can't hurt to try the different little bumpie tricks.  Yep, I even have the seahorse. LOL. Good luck!

  • Yeah, I'd say try the white noise machine, DD loves it and it really helps her sleep.

We use one, and it's loud.  I am wondering if she has reflux and that's why she likes the carseat and bouncer more.  Might need to relook into the incline positioner.
