High-Risk Pregnancy

Hello everyone!

So I got a call from my OB about my first glucoa test.  They said my sugar was at 220!  Eek!  They set up an appointment for me to go to a high-risk OB next week.  They said they usually do the longer test if your sugar level is high, but mine was so high that they are skipping it alltogether.  I am a little over 16 weeks and we tested early because my family has a history of diabetes and this is something I do not want to have right now.  Now I am really worried that something could go wrong, but I think I will just breathe and relax.

Re: Hello everyone!

  • You will be fine!! I would start to watch how much sugar you eat right now and try to cut it down to almost none. Most people don't drink any sugar drinks including juice at all.

The main thing to watch is to make sure that you get protein with each meal and you get enough protein to counter-balance how many carbs you eat.

For me a perfect meal is 2 slices of low-carb bread (6g carbs each), two slices of lunch meat, slice of cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickle, mayo, and mustard. You could eat that with a sugar-free yogurt and it would be really balanced and healthy.

GL as you get started! :)
