**Beck**

How is the pumping going?  Notice any difference?  Just thinking 'boutcha.  :)

Re: **Beck**

  • Well since you asked.. ;)

I hate pumping. I was used to just pumping in the mornings when the house was quiet and nobody was awake and I could just catch up on the boards or trashy tv before heading to work. I had no idea how difficult it would be to find time to pump with a crazy semi-mobile 6 month old here with me! Fun.

We did notice a big difference though. Her face definitely showed noticeable improvement! I was both relieved and upset by that discovery - glad that we figured out a trigger and sad that I thought I may have to make the real jump to EPing or weaning, neither of which I want to do. We had Camy's follow-up with the dermatologist yesterday and discussed it with her, and she doesn't think we should or really need to stop nursing though.

Yes, the friction and moisture on her face for 30mins at a time, 5x a day is irritating her. But ANY friction or moisture will irritate her. Chewing on a toy for any length of time, drool, sleeping on one side of her face, getting food all over the place when she eats... everything is an irritant, basically. So while eliminating that one trigger would help some, she didn't think it would make such a big difference long term that it was necessary to make that change if I didn't really want to. She even thinks that nursing without the shield would have the same effect since her cheeks would still be rubbing up against me, ya know?

So our new test is to slather on vaseline before every feeding (nursing or solids) to see if we can create a strong enough barrier to protect her sensitive skin a bit.

I am still pumping quite a bit at this point, but I don't think we'll make the full-time leap. I have this bad boy for the month, I want my money's worth. ;) And I'm trying to beef up our sad little stash a bit.

So.. there ya have it! Sorry so long! And thanks for thinking of us!

  • Geez...I thought you were going to announce Beck is coming to Austin. You are such a tease.
  • Glad it seemed to get better, and I hope you don't have to stop nursing before you're ready.  :)
  • Thanks for the update, I've been wondering how you were doing as well.  Hope you can find a good solution!
  • I'm glad the appt went so well!
  • That's encouraging news that the dermatologist doesn't think you need to stop nursing altogether!  It all seems to make sense.  I hope that vaseline barrier does the trick!
