Happy BWing/NIP moments

I live in an area that BWing is close to a UFO spotting. Patrick was born 3/11 and any time that we have left the house he has been worn in the Moby. We love it.

The first outing was to his Ped. Appt. and man it felt GREAT! I got looks from everyone and side eyes but Patrick was the only newborn not screaming his head off, or sitting in a carseat on the floor. The nurses and dr. both loved that I wore him, and I had one mom ask where she could get something like it. Today I had to go to Walmart and I wore him again in the Moby, the Cashier said "I'm from New York and up there we see moms wearing their babies all the time, not down here. It's so nice to see the few that wear them proudly" I thanked her and wanted to hug her!

Both times I have NIP. Before I thought I would be too shy to attempt it-but I have found that through your stories and other sites I have been on I flat out don't care and will feed my baby when and where he demands it! DH was SO not supportive of this while I was pregnant and the first time, but by feeding #2 he was right on board. I'm not out flashing everyone, you'd have to really look at me to know what I was doing.

LOL! Me too.  I get followed in Target.  It's too funny.  I had one older Mexican lady say, "Hey!  In my country we do that!  Good for you!"  It was so cute.  Most of the time I get looks and everyonce in a while a mom pushing her baby in a stroller or with her baby in the carseat on the shopping cart asks me about my fabric wrap carrier (a DIY Moby style wrap).  My LO loves to be worn.  I do need to find a new solution now that she's almost 16 lbs. and it's getting warmer here.  Probably will get a woven or an Ergo.

  • Yay!  I kind of love those looks.  :D  Around here there are a few, but not too many moms who BW.  I wear my DS in the ring sling at church and get some weird looks, but mostly people think it's cute.  And I love it when a pregnant mom comes up to me at the mall or out somewhere and asks about it!  I figure the more people who find out about slings (hey, I didn't know anything about them until my bradley instructor started talking about it), the less weird it will look to everyone else!
  • We recently flew and I wore Ryan in a woven. We had so many people smile at us (along with a few weird looks!) I had one older couple come ask us about it because they're daughter is expecting and they loved that Ryan seemed so content. People on the plane LOVED us and commented on what a happy baby Ryan is. He loves being worn!

  • We wore a woven to the park today, and an older lady and HER mom (really elderly and in a wheelchair) stopped me to tell me I was the smartest mommy there (for wearing DS)  Smile
