alcohol and lexapro

can u have a glass or two of wine if going out to dinner when taking Lexapro? I started it last nite..felt drowsy..but tomorrow nite we are going out with friends for dinner..wanted to know if I can drink since I am no longer pregnant

All I can say is: TAKE IT SLOW.

I'm on Lexapro, and have had a couple of drinks with dinner on severeal occasions and was fine.

My sister is also on Lexapro, and the first time she drank alcohol on it (only 3 drinks) she was falling over drunk. Literally. She excused herself to go to the bathroom, and the police picked her up from where she was practically lying on an outdoor table. In December. She didn't remember how she got there, anything. Luckily her H was looking for her and walked up right was they were taking her away, and they agreed to let her just go home.

So... I guess like so many other things it just depends on how your body reacts. So, if you really want to have a few drinks, I would just take it really slow, and make sure at least one person knows the situation so they can take care of you if needed.

My doc recommends waiting at least two weeks to see how your body is handling the meds first and then only having one drink.

I agree with taking it slow. I know for me I can only have one drink while on Lexapro. Otherwise I feel really drunk & hung over.
