Getting baby to sleep ?

OK, how the heck do y'all get your babies to sleep now that the time has changed...what is the secret? Gracie has always given me nap problems, but the past 3 months she has gone down at night with no problem. No tears or anything....just bath, bottle, book then bed and she would roll over and go right to sleep. Ever since the time changed, she has been fighting night time sleep. The routine is still in place, nothing has changed there. The problem is that her room is still pretty bright at 7:30. She now refuses to fall asleep without a few minutes of crying. We only have blinds, no drapes. Do most of you have drapes to make the room dark? Or am I the only one with this problem?

Re: Getting baby to sleep ?

  • so interesting, i was going to ask a similar ?.  with the time change, max seems to have moved his bedtime a little later (830ish) and i was wondering if it had to do with the light in his room.  i know as he gets a little older an earlier bedtime will be really important and i was just wondering how that worked with it being light out until 9pm in the summer.

  • We have a black out "shade" that helps to keep the room pretty dark. It is really just a piece of fabric that black out shades are made from that we kind of rigged up behind the roman shade in her room. The sell the black out fabric at JoAnn's.
  • We had some problems with C as well, but he seems to be back on track now.  We actually had moved his bedtime later after the time change, and then we have been gradually moving it back to the 'normal' time.  Maybe you could try pushing the time back a little and see if that helps?
