I am NOT good with numbers...at all! I'm numerically dyslexic, which means I mix up my numbers and flip them around...made math a living hell in high school and now college!!
The whole counting thing with TTC is a wee bit confusing to me...maybe it's my right-brain-ness or something! Can anyone use the most basic of info and help me figure out how to count for ovulation, etc.
Just as a note, we are currently NOT TTC -- wanting to save up and get a house instead of this apartment before we purposefully try. However, if a LO decides to appear in the near future, we won't be disappointed! =]
Re: ::confused::
Yes like PP said, sign up for Fertility Friend and start charting. All you have to do is get a BBT, temp the same time every morning and record it in your chart. FF will do the rest of the work for you. And take their tutorials. Even when TTA it's helpful to go ahead and know what your cycles are 'typically' like if you plan to TTC in the near future.
PS. if you arent using BC, youre trying to get PG. There isnt much gray area around that. (dont know if you are or arent, just sayin).
There is actually no way to tell you are ovulating or when you are ovulating unless you are using OPKs or charting your temperature.Everyone is different.
I would suggest getting the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It is an amazing book to read.
Best of luck.
We're finding ways to work around that one...we've been using spermicide and not even letting DH come close to "boiling point" during the actual "action." We think that DH has a latex allergy, which is a bit crappy, to say the least. So, we've been preventative, but nothing is foolproof. Which is why we're wanting to chart a bit more efficiently, and keeping track better.
Also, are there any other non-latex BC ideas that you have found helpful?
IUD?
As the girls said, you can't "count for ovulation". You can only know you ovulated after the fact by charting.
I would also suggest checking out FF.
Jumping in just get a little OT, sorry! I was just curious why the Pill is off limits in your religion, but not Depo.
Yeah that was kinda what I was thinking. I know old time Catholics are against Ovulation Suppression. Which is all forms of hormonal BC including Depo, Pill and Nuva. Idk what religion OP is, but it doesnt make since to me either. To each her own I guess.
OH ok, I get it. Well I would try a Diaphragm then w/ spermicide. But like I said, pull out worked for me before, but I also have a ragging thyroid that makes it harder for me to get PG in the first place.
We've been using a diaphragm coated with spermicide, as well as an extra dollop of "swimmer-killer", (as my sister calls it!) as well as "pulling out."
My mom has been educating me on the "natural method" of TTC and ovulation; I understand most of it..the numbers are what tend to dance around in my brain and come out all mixed up!
It does both.

I think it prohibits implantation if you actually DID ovulate. Not positive on the last part but I do know it does both.
Then you should be good girl. And dont worry about counting. Just input temps into FF and it will give you CH's when you ovulated, however it doesnt put the CH's in until AFTER you already O'ed. But as long as you are charting CM and OPK's youll probably be able to estimate that week. Also what youre doing now should work. If it happens after that and you arent totally against being KU now, then it was just meant to be.
Head straight to the bookstore and read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's the natural family planning method that actually works- because counting days just isn't reliable. You'll need a thermometer and someplace to chart your temp every morning but the book is excellent for both trying to avoid and for trying to conceive. You'll be writing down the numbers (or putting them online) instead of trying to keep them in your head and it will come out looking like a graph- not a series of numbers. Graphs are easier to read if numbers make your head swim!

?SAIF/PAIF/PgAL/PAL always welcome?
That sounds SOOO much easier than attempting to remember them and keeping everything straight in my poor math/number-hating brain! *sigh* You guys are great; I don't feel like such an epic failure with simple stuff like this, and awesome, supporting people like you guys! =]
Ah, so maybe that's why some religious beliefs prohibit the pill.
Yeah Im sure that's probably why.
Yep...that would be one of the big reasons...at least, for me!
I understand. I mean I personally dont have a huge issue with hormonal BC, but the preventing implantation part bugs me a bit cause you could have a chemical PG while on BC. Which would bother me a little. But I guess I just choose to think that its preventing Oing all together.
