Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Head control ? from 0-3

I don't normally post on other boards but I am looking for a little encouragement. At DDs 2 mo appt the ped was concerned that she isn't hitting some of her developmental milestones. She doesn't control her head very well and she wouldn't track his penlight with her eyes. Just looking for suggestions on how to work on these things (BTW she HATES tummy time) and wondering if any of you had LOs that were behind on milestones and have caught up. I know every baby is different but the ped was concerned enough that we have to come back at 3 mo instead of the normal well-baby at 4 mo.

Re: Head control ? from 0-3

  • I had DS 4 month appointment yesterday and she noticed he favored his right side and he cant lift his head very high. She said just to keep him in his bumbo and jumperoo a few times a day to get the muscles stronger and try physical therapy. Even though DS hates tummy time, we do it anyway bc i know its important. he'll cry for 5 minutes usually and then ill pick him up.

    It'll all be ok! : )

  • Tummy time on an exercise or beach ball can be more fun and really forces baby to use neck muscles. DD prefers the ball over traditional tummy time. So that could help. DD came out holding her head up so I can't really relate too much but I wish you luck and hope your LO catches up soon. My best friends DD was at the very end of all her physical milestones, but she was talking really early on.
