diaper storage?

So I am trying to determine what I should do as I have heard/read different things.   Many places say a diaper stacker is pointless and they never used one.  If you don't have one, where did you store the diapers in their room if you have a double dresser with a changing pad on top (not a regular changing table that has baskets)... did you put the diapers in the top drawer? 

Sorry to ask just a dumb question, just trying to decide if I want to bother to buy the stacker or not.

I store diapers in his dresser.  We have 3 drawers and a cabinet with two shelves.  The diapers go there in a basket.  Extra diapers are stored in the closet.  I do have a small diaper caddy basket I keep in the family room for when I am lazy and don't feel like taking DS to his room to change him.

I have used one of those over the door shoe holders.  Then you can put a couple diapers some extra clothes and all the other necessities in the shoe holders and they're right at arms reach--for me anyway.  I love it and you can get them for under $5

I have a pad on top of a dresser too and I use a stacker that came with the 10 piece bedding set. But for more storage I have a floating shelf centered above the changing table on the wall and it has 3 black wicker baskets on it.(got them at BRU) One for receiving blankets, diapers and wipes. You can find floating shelves at Ikea and pretty much everywhere else. The dresser is black so it looks really good with the 3 black baskets "floating" above the dresser.

Lily's room has a vintage feel to it. I have a big wicker picnic basket in one corner and it's paxked full of diapers. I have 250 size 1s in there right now.
