I need to let the pharmacy know which meter I want and I have NO IDEA! I called my insurance and these are the ones that are covered. Since I can't wait the 10 business days for them to send me a free one, I'll have to pay between $12-20 for the meter (whatever!) and then the copay is the same for the test strips and lancets - $50 for a 90 day supply.
My options are the One Touch Ultra Mini, Accu-Check Aviva or Accu-Check Compact Plus. Help me out here! What's the best option?
Re: GD Ladies - Accu-Check or One Touch??
no idea what the best option is since I've only used the Accu-Check Aviva, but I like it a lot and find it VERY easy to use.
I have the multiclick lancet that holds 6 needles at once which I really like because I don't have to change it out as often.
Same here. My nurse did say the Accucheck is the best and least painful she's tried/had patient try
I have the one touch ultra mini and have found it really easy to use.
FYI, for the lancets, check the regular price on the shelf before you get a prescription filled. I use CVS and my copay for a box of lancets was more than if I paid cash off the shelf. Plus, most lancets are interchangeable so you can get a generic version to work with most lancet devices. I use the CVS brand and it works fine.
$50 for a 90-day supply of strips is a good price, though.
I have the Accu-Check mini... I don't know the difference but I like it and it's pain free...my insurance covers is all so I don't know the cost of anything
good luck
I use the One Touch Ultra 2. I don't know if that's the same as the mini.
It's the only one I've used so I can't compare. I wouldn't exactly call it "pain free" but it is easy to use and as painless as I expect pricking your finger 4 times a day to draw blood could ever be.
Maybe see if you can find some consumer reports on the two online before deciding! If one is more accurate I would go with that. I don't trust my machine some days (maybe only wishful thinking, but still).
