Single Parents

daycare question.

I'm going to be looking at a daycare on Monday for the 2-3 days that I work during the day. What should I be looking at and what questions should I ask? I am completely clueless when it comes to this so any advice would be helpful. TIA ladies!

Re: daycare question.

  • I would ask about daily routine for the kids, nap time - where do the kids sleep (cots / floor, how long they get to sleep, how many naps), how they handle conflict with the kids (ie biting), do they get time outside/how long, how often do they change diapers (are the checking kids regularly), feeding schedules, how often they sanitize the toys, ratio of kids to teacher.... if you can't remember all that make sure you ask about the sanitization. I went to one place where I saw kids slobbering on toys and then they went back on the shelf DS is in a daycare where they will sanitize all day long as needed.

  • Loading the player...
  • How often they clean toys, do they hold the baby during feedings, will LO have his own crib(or will a different baby use it on his off days), depending on what there winter weather policies are, do the babies get outdoor time? Staff to baby ratio, how many staff are there(is it the same staff every day)?

  • Would ask how the charge...daily, weekly, part-time, full-time... Do you have to pay for days the child is not there. Holidays. Vactions for you/daycare. Sickness policy. Are you charged more if you are late picking child up. Plus the above.
  • Thank you so much ladies, I wouldn't have thought to ask some of those questions!
