I suck at doing this on a regular basis. Who said they wanted to take it over?
Happy Birthday to all the little one's I've missed over the last however many weeks it's been since I posted this.

QOTW: How well would you rate your pedi and why?
As always, feel free to post updates about your LO(s).
Let me know if you need to be added or if anything on the list needs to be changed.

Re: Moms Check-In
Updates: First birthday plans are in full swing. Her party's on the 27th and we're busy finalizing everything.
She's been really fussy in the evenings lately and I think it's her ears. She's getting tubes next Thursday and I hope we have the great results that I hear other people talk about.
She's standing on her own for a few seconds at a time now but she still hasn't taken any steps. She gets around pretty quickly cruising and crawling!
The Blog
Our pedi gets a 10, for sure. She's pretty proactive when he's sick, does a very through exam, I can get into to see her that same day usually, I never have to wait long, we think she's great. I loved the nurse she had when Steven was a nb, but I haven't seen her in ages and we pretty much have a different one everytime we're there. I wish she had a set nurse that we see each time, but they've all been great.
Update- Steven is great. Working on molars, I think. Now I'm not sure if it actually was his canines that came in first on top. I think now it was his lateral incisors, b/c there's no room i between his top teeth and the 2ns set now that his top center teeth are all the way in. I guess we'll see.
His language has exploded! He's saying so much now: mama, dada, bye bye, down (while he points down), dog, cat, night night, go (gogogo), nose, eye, and Nana. It's so stinkin cute!!
Our pedi gets a 9...we have zero complaints, and when Ali had complications in the hospital and was in NICU, Dr. C came up to check on her (and us) several times and was instrumental in making us feel calmer about what was going on. I'm not crazy about her nurse, and sometimes we've had to wait quite a while for a not-so-busy office, but overall we are very happy.
Updates: Holy crap is this a cool age or what??? I feel like she has a new skill every day. She's working on her first teeth and handling teething like a champ. She has learned the word "kitty" and when I ask, "where's the kitty?" she looks all around the room until she spots one of them and then breaks into the biggest grin. And THEN, she makes a "kuh" sound, as if trying to imitate me saying "kitty." Rolling, eating solids, playing the "fake cough" game, turning the pages when we read books...it's just all so freaking cool. I love it!!
QOTW: we see Jill Nichols at ADC. I think I would rate her an 8. I like her, but sometimes I feel like she can be judgmental about things, like sleep issues, etc. A couple of times their after hours nurse line didnt call us back, which is unaccetable.
J is so much fun. He is talking so much - mama, dada, Elijah (our dog - this was actually his first word), yogurt (but he says it like "gaoey" lol), eye, nose, home, yes, no, down, cheese, outside, bath, berry. He loves playing outside and will bang on the front door while yelling "outside!"
Our pedi gets a 7 - the office gets a 10. Our pedi is really great - always gives us the info we need, I always feel like he covers everything. The office gets a 10. I feel like they are on top of everything (Capital Pediatric Group). I've never had to wait long to get L in to see a Doctor whether it is a night, weekend, etc. The nurse always calls me back within 10 or so minutes of my call. It's a great office and very wonderful for a busy working mom! I love that they have extended after-hours and weekend hours because that's when L is usually the most sick.
L is doing really well - the last month has been HUGE for him developmentally. He stopped army crawling (which he did since 6 mos) and now crawls, he's pulling up on everything, cruising, and now walking with his walker toy. He's starting to say a few words, "bye-bye" "mama" "baba" and he knows how to give five, wave hi and bye, and clap when you say "yay!" He's growing so much - is into everything. He loves to laugh and the slightest thing will send him into a giggling spree. I just love it. He's sleeping for the most part pretty well - usually 7:30PM - 6AM except for a few nights of rough nights due to teething. I'm so in love and can't believe my baby is almost one!!
You can add me - Morris 12/22/09
QOTW: So far I'm a fan of our pedi. He was recommended to us by several friends (and every time I've been, I've run into someone I know). We'll see- still early!
Update: M is growing on me more & more. Hah. He's still waking up several times at night, but occassionally we'll get a long-ish stretch. Today DH suggested we hire a night sitter for some nights. Haha. I told him I wasn't that desperate. I haven't been complaining about being tired, just stating it if he asks. I cross my fingers every night that it will be THE NIGHT that he decides to sleep 6+ hours in a row.
I really, really like our pedi. We see Dr. Dudley at Lone Star Pediatrics. We switched to her when DD was 4 months. She's been great - very thorough, easy to talk to, listens to all our questions/concerns and has always taken what I feel is appropriate action when needed. I highly recommend her. And - I like the office and the entire staff - so it's a plus all the way around.
Updates: DD is excited about the baby. She loves to kiss my tummy and talk about the baby. I'm thinkig of enrolling her in a sibling class in a couple months to help her w/ the transition when the baby is here. But - I think it's sweet how excited she is about the bay.
Ditto. I'm pretty much taking bttrcup's view (I remember from a post a while back) and using her for medical advice and ignoring everything else. I nod and smile and keep doing what we're doing. And I only like one of the many nurses we've seen so far. The best thing about the office is the convenience.
Update: Ocho is signing "milk" and pointing to her cup, without prompting, when she wants a drink. We're introducing the "juice" sign and slowly working on distinguishing. She says "dot" (= all done) when she's done with a meal and signs "finished" without prompting. She calls the dogs "duh" and loves to go look for them through the window when they're outside. She finally managed to catch one of the cats and petted her nicely instead of yanking hair - she is all about the dogs and cats right now and loves being outside. Her favorite toys lately are still the little ozarka pint water bottles I filled with dried chickpeas and lentils (we call them maracas). She loves to carry them around by the top of the bottle and shake them and she tours the house.
Oh, and when I'm sitting in a chair rubbing my sore belly, she starts rubbing hers and looking at mine, lol.
QOTD: We see Dr. Lincoln at Pediatric Junction and love her! She is so helpful and is very responsive to all of my questions. She is prompt to return messages and emails. And most importantly Adley LOVES her. She always has a big smile when she sees her.
Update: Adley is growing like a weed. At her 6 month checkup, she weighed 18 lbs. and 13 oz. and was 28 inches tall - 90%. She now rolls both ways easily and loves to roll across the floor. She has also found her voice and it is LOUD. She loves to scream lately, happy screams! She remain seated by herself for a little bit, but she's so spastic that if she gets distracted, she falls over.
We see Dr Reidy at Schoolhouse Pediatrics. I love her, she gets a 9. She doesn't get a 10 probably more b/c I'm conflicted than anything she's doing. She has been very consistent. My 'issue' is that she has a generally pretty laissez faire attitude, e.g. it's fine not to give that vaccine right now if you don't want to b/c it's to prevent an STD, let's try the amoxycillan before we go to a stronger drug, his head isn't that flat at all so I wouldn't spend the money for a helmet. Most of these things I'm on board with, but the helmet thing made me reassess. Waaay to long to go into, but basically we held off for a couple of months on the helmet b/c we were undecided & she said she wouldn't do it if it were her kid (but did give us a referral b/c we asked for it). Now I really wish I had gone with my gut & gotten the helmet 2 months earlier. So, I like her & 90% agree with her doctoring philosophy, but sometimes I find myself wanting to be a touch more proactive. Sorry that was so long!
Updates: DS1 cracks me up. He picks up on everything and has a really funny/silly sense of humor. I love it! DS2 got his first tooth this week! At least now there is an explanation for the spectacularly crappy sleep last weekend. He is thisclose to army crawling. We are having fun!
Please add me. Lily born 1/20/2010
We see Dr. Lincoln at Pediatric Junction and LOVE her. Everyone in the office is great, call back times are great and Dr. Lincoln is patient and thorough. I give her and the office a ten and have absolutely no complaints.
Lily is wonderful. At her 2 month appt she was a little over 10 lbs. She is developing more of a little personality everyday and she LOVES to smile and "talk". She has the best facial expressions and tries to copy ours. Sleeping could be better, but it could be worse.
I want to play
We went to Dr. Reidy @ schoolhouse - LOVED her! She is compassionate and was in line with our parenting style re vaccines, sleep, etc... I miss her SO much!
Miss K turned one on Monday! I am in complete denial that my baby is now considered a toddler. She is doing awesome. She is cruising all over and loves to talk ALL the time. She says mama, dada, kadey (dog), Hi, go and no. She can sign all done and more. She loves to sing and dance and will break out into a babble song (while dancing) and then clap for herself when she is done... adorable! Her top 2 teeth finally broke through last week bringing her tooth count to 6. We go in for her 1 year check-up tomorrow, she is thinning out (only has 1 leg roll instead of 3) so I'm curious to see where she falls as far as height/weight.
Wow, still amazed that the 2009 baby boom babies are alll turning one! We miss our Austin peeps!
Will you add me please?
Screen name--Dallasteacher
DS--Landon
Birthday--12/2/09
We see Dr. Sperling in Cedar Park, and we really love her. I love how she is with DS, so loving and sweet, and she was never bothered by the millions of questions we had in the beginning. She always personally returns phone calls on the same day, and she really makes us feel like we're doing a good job. We never have to wait long, and all the nurses are great. It's also a huge plus that the office is only about five minutes from our house.
Landon is doing great. He starts going to a sitter's house next week, which I'm sad about, but I'm glad we found who we did to watch him. I posted last week about him hating to go places and hating to ride in the car,but today we went to Target and I don't know if it was a fluke or what, but he was great! He didn't cry at all in the car and he loved being in the Baby Bjorn whle we walked around. Huge improvement! Let's hope this lasts. He also slept in his crib for the first time last night from 7:30-3:30 and only woke up twice. Yay!
You can update me - Emily born 12.22
I rate my Pedi Dr Chang at Treehouse Pediatrics at an A+. I trust him with both my girls. Despite recent issues with the practice, I still have absolute faith in our choice of pediatrician.
we see dr. jolet at southwest pediatrics and love, love, love her! we've also seen dr. rimer and dr. fyda for sick visits and liked them as well. we always get a call back from the nurse within the hour and have been able to get in if needed on the same day. don't really care for one of the nurses we've had there...nothing about the job she does, she is very efficient but isn't very friendly. overall, i would give them a 9.5 and would definitely recommend them.
max is doing great...smiling and "talking" up a storm. he is great sleeper and wakes only one time per night...he'll usually go 6-8 hours which is great! he sometimes rolls from his belly to his back but i don't think its on purpose:) he gets pretty distracted eating these days but i think its his 4 month wakeful/wonder week thing. he goes for his 4 month well check a week from today...i can't believe it!!!
QOTW: We see Dr. Cepeda at Jollyville Pediatrics, and I give her an A+. She's fabulous with Alessandra, she's thorough, caring, and always answers all of my questions/concerns seriously no matter how silly or trivial. I don't really care for her nurse because I think she has poor bedside manner, but the rest of the office staff is great.
Updates: Alessandra is doing really well. After my milk dried up, we switched her to whole milk with our pedi's approval, and she didn't have any trouble making the switch. She's so close to walking, but still a little timid about taking steps on her own. She's taken about 3 confident steps independently, but she still prefers to crawl or cruise. She'll walk holding only one hand or holding onto my pants with one hand. She loves to cllimb the stairs. She's not saying any words yet, but she's introducing new consonant sounds all the time. I just can't believe she's going to be 1 in just over a month!
QOTW- I rate our pedi an 8. I really like her, but wish she spent a little more time with us. She is extremely flexible and listens to us, which I love. She also asks about both kids, even if she's only seeing one of them. I really appreciate the extra effort. The practice (Capital Pediatrics) is great about getting you in, answering questions, and I love that they have extended and weekend hours and 2 locations. I had a really bad experience with one of the doctors when DD was little, but everyone else has been great.
Updates- Both kids have been sick and DS (15 months) has his first ear infection. He's also cutting his 9th and 10th teeth. Hopefully they come in faster than his molars, because those suuuuucked. He is trying to run and talking up a storm. He also loves to dance. DD, 33 months, is great. She is picking up on everything and says some really funny things. This age has it's challenges, but it is probably my favorite so far. It's just amazing to watch them learn and develop.
Update: can i have my LO's added? Mackayla and Braylon born 3-12-10
nothin much here but trying to get used to having these LO's at home and getting DS used to them. sore as all get out (i cannot imagine if i would have had a c/s) still feel like i got hit by a truck and am more swollen than before i had them...ugh! i need to kick this swelling and feel great!
QOTD: DS has gone to the Georgetown Community Pediatric Clinic since birth and i did NOT like ANY of the doctors there. we have gone through like 5 or so and now we see the nurse practitioner and i could not ask for better!
QOTW: I rate my doc at an 8.5. I think she is great, but not so sure about the other Dr. at the practice. She's easy to work with, but I was concerned about L's flat head and she filled out a form that she had to fax, but then I never heard back. (and then my fault, everytime I thought about it, it was after hours or I was in my car...) Other than that, I really like her.
UPDATE: Logan is doing great. He still is sttn. He eats like a pro--check his blog for foods he has tried an liked. He is very close to crawling...he pushes himself backwards. We've been working on getting on his hands and knees this week. He likes to babble and play a lot. He is just a very happy baby, and I love it!! (and am totally lucky for it)
ditto! except we see dr. l.
i give her a 10, as well as most of the nurses. she's great at putting aubs at ease, takes time to answer my questions (i ALWAYS have tons of questions :P ), and is proactive - seems genuinely interested in doing what's best for aubs and our family. when we were without health insurance for two months, i was so impressed with the way she bent over backwards to make sure aubrey's health care wasn't compromised, nor was our pocket emptied. i like that they call-in the prescriptions, instead of having to hand-deliver it and then wait.
i don't like the front desk ladies though. i get annoyed when i come in two days in a row and they ask me on the second day to verify my insurance and address. umm, it hasn't changed since yesterday. why don't they just ask 'has any of your info changed since last visit?' and they also want me to write the date next to my signature on the credit card slip - even though the date is clearly printed on that same slip. i'm anti-doing-things-that-don't-make-sense, especially while trying to calm a sick toddler.
QOTW: We see Dr. Travis @ Treehouse and have been nothing but pleased. We've been lucky that we haven't had a sickie on our hands (*knock on wood*) so we've only been in for well checks.
Updates: A will by 9 months old (!!) on Friday. I can't even believe it! She is still on the verge of crawling and has gotten thisclose about a million times over the last week but still hasn't made the final move. We're slowly starting to introduce more finger foods and she is loving it! I really need to get on the ball with teaching her sign language...I always say I'm going to start doing it and then get lazy. Me = bad mommy.
