Success after IF

What do you use/where do you change baby with no change table?

We have no space in our current apartment for a change table and I'm not planning on buying one since we will not move in to our new place until LO is about 5 months old (I don't want to use a change table once baby starts rolling).

Can you recommend a good waterproof changing pad?  I was thinking of getting my mother to make a vinyl cover and stuffing it with a flat pillow/stuffing etc. to make a soft service that is easily cleaned.

Thanks!

  • We have a 2 story house and our changing table is in his room upstairs and I don't go up everytime to change him. I use the floor a lot. I have a really nice waterproof changing pad but I got it from another mom and have no idea where it came from. I would think BRU would have some.

  • We had a changing table and literally never used it (except for the storage) so we got rid of it.

It was upstairs and our main living areas are downstairs.. I'm not about to make a special trip up there just to change a diaper.

I keep a basket with diapers, wipes, and a receiving blanket in it and change him on the floor or couch.

When I'm upstairs I change him on our bed.

  • I have the BabySmart Cooshee Changer. It's pretty nifty. Comfortable for baby and no covers required (although it will stain a bit). Andrew outgrew it in length about a month ago, but we're still using it.

  • Up until recently we just used the changing table on the pnp. Now that we put that away I just use the floor (it is carpeted) with a blanket under them. I just wash that every couple of days.
  • My friends were renovating their house when their son was born (insane, I know) so my friend set up a changing station on their dining room table. Obviously they had somewhere else to eat, but she had all his clothes in that room and used a changing pad on the table to change his diapers. Seemed to work well for her.
  • We sometimes change DD on the floor of the living room.  I'll say this though, I was super ambivalent about a changing table.  Seemed a waste of money as there are tons of surfaces on which to change a baby right?  Well we got one as a hand-me-down and I gotta tell you it's the only place I like to change DD.  The height is perfect.  I spend so much time bending over her that my back always hurts...and you change so many diapers so even though you didn't ask for it I vote for a changing table.  Ikea makes a really inexpensive one.  And unless you change your LO on the floor every time there is always a danger of them rolling off -- you just keep a hand on them.

  • I will start by saying the changing table is my LO favorite place to be.  When she is really fussy I go to her room and put her on the changing table and she settles done. Not sure why she likes it so much. haha

It might be because the changing pad is so soft. I just have the regular changing pad which could easily just sit on the floor somewhere.

I have a friend that has ther master bedroom onthe first floor and she put the pad on the floor in the corner of her room.

I like the colorful pad that someone else recommended because you could easily wipe it done instead of always cleaning the changing pad covers.

I do this often as well as N is sometimes a bit of a thrasher at diaper changes and it's easier to keep a good grip on her on the floor.

  • I use a dresser as a changing table and have sealy or is it serta (sold at BRU) changing pad on top of it. DS loves getting naked and hanging there lol We have some great talks when we are changing his diaper. I have a single story house, so going to his room to change him is not out of my way though.

  • We have a changing pad on a dresser upstairs in the nursery, but it only gets used for middle of the night changes.

I just change her on the floor with a blanket and/or a lap pad. I have a small fabric bin with diapers/wipes/etc. that I keep on the floor. Elizabeth now loves to crawl to it and pull out all the diapers, one by one.

  • We have a small house, and so I'm using the top of a low bookcase as the "changing table".  We just put a changing pad on it, and were good to go.

I suppose it's sort of inconvenient to go upstairs every time to change her, but I think of it as my clandestine exercise program...

  • We put a pad on a dresser - I didn't want to spend money on a changing table when I already had furniture I liked better.

    This

Awesome product! We have 3 all over the place!

It has a decent size drawer for diaper cream and other small stuff. Room for diapers and comes with a nice waterproof pad that you can fold up and store in the caddy. You could also just grab the pad and take it with you if you need one.

Highly recommend it........a must for everyone :)

Plus......the caddy is easy to carry and move around from room-to-room

Comes in a couple different colors as well :)

we have this too and love it.  We usually change her on the couch.  And to be honest, I hardly ever put something under her - unless I know it is a messy diaper.  And even then, I usually grab a burp cloth

we have a changing table, and I think I have used it one.  But, I do use it as the place for all of her clothes that no longer fit until I can put them in bins and put them in the attic
