I reupholstered a couch before for about $50. If you are crafty, you could DIY it. If you get it done somewhere though, it's probably worth just buying a new one...

I bought the fabric on sale and found a local person to do it (vs an upholstery shop), I think it was around $125 for her work...which seemed reasonable to me, we bought a glider on clearance since we didn't care about the fabric. The total cost was probably = to a non-clearance glider but I liked that I got to customize the color and fabric type.
My mom is getting hers redone for me. It is the one with two cushions and a wood frame (not a full fabric chair) and the cost with fabric and labor is $140 (disclaimer-this is in a small town in central PA, not here in Philly).
I just looked into getting a vintage rocker redone and for labor it was $335. We were going to do it in a pink pattern and the ones we liked ended up being around $40/yard. We are no longer going this route.
You can definitely find cheaper fabrics though if you're looking at a more neutral color (more selection).
Hmmm, well this one would be a little castle upholstered glider, and it's being sold for $125. It seems like a lot of fabric would need to be bought and the labor may be more complicated. Normally it retails for $600.

Re: Reupholstering a glider?
i have heard it can cost around $300.
i guess it would depend on the chair style (difficulty) and the fabric...
a slip cover might be a good alternative.
