Drink what? Pee when?

I just got my instructions for my 20wk anatomy scan and OMG!

930am - pee; 10am drink 4cups of water and no peeing after that; 11am ultrasound, which will probly be 1130 knowing how my doc's office runs. And they said the US is supposed to run about 30-45 mins. 

I'm just not doing it. I have to pee every 30mins as it is and that's just drinking normally, not 4c at once. I may not be eating for 2 but I sure am peeing for 2.

Maybe you can chug all that water on the way to the appointment?

That way you don't have to sit with a full bladder for 2 hours?

You can do it! I was the same way. I thought I was going to burst but after she checked out my cervix (thats why they need you fully loaded BTW) she let me go to the washroom so I could enjoy the rest of the ultrasound. Good luck!

Oh dear, yes, I know where you're coming from.  For CVS I had to have a full bladder and that was still in the first trimester when I was peeing more frequently.  I drank too much water, I think, so that I was already in pain before my appointment then they made me wait 20 minutes before going into the room.  Then with the ultrasound and the test it was at least another 45 minutes, maybe an hour.  I was dying.  Everyone who came in said "wow, your bladder is really full".  I wanted to slap them.  Good luck to you and your bladder.  My mantra during the test was "hurt me and I'll pee on you".  It helped make me feel better.

I was drinking a ton of water all morning, and then i peed literally 10 minutes before my ultrasound and then had to empty my bladder half way thru because it was getting too painful to hold it in any longer.

When I went for my ultra sound at 18W they said the same thing, drink alot of fluid, have a full bladder, so I was feeling the same way, THEN when I got to the ultra sound, They ASKED me to go pee before I actaully had the ultra sound :S Weird because I thought they wanted a full bladder?? maybe you will be lucky and won't have to hold it lol

When I went to mine, I actually drank what they asked, but I was so uncomfortable they made me release a little.... They said you should feel full but not so full you cant think of anything else.

 Not fun... Good luck... dont drink too much, you'll make yourself miserable and over full!

My first ultrasound was the only ultrasound I've had where they told me to drink a certain amount of water. I tried drinking what they asked and I didn't have enough in there so they made me pee and did an internal. However, my last ultrasound was at 19 weeks and they didn't make me drink a thing! Must be the quality of the machine they use?

I'm worried about this too.  They told me to start drinking 32oz. an hour before my appointment.  They suggested drinking most of it within the first 30 minutes of that hour.  I had my 17 week checkup yesterday and I sat in the waiting room for over an hour, if they do that with this next appointment at 20 weeks, I will burst!  There's some days that I go to the bathroom every 30 minutes, I drink a lot of water during the day but having to hold it in is going to be really hard and uncomfortable.

For my 12 week I drank my water an hour before, then my appointment was late. I was practically crying in the waiting room and honestly, had a really hard time enjoying my u/s because it hurt so badly.

For my 20week u/s I chugged all my water like 10 minutes before my appointment and I think cut it to maybe 28 ounces. It goes right through me anyway so everything was fine and I was way more comfortable and could enjoy it.
