**Amanimals1...**

I just saw your earlier post on tongue thrusts. I was sent to a specialist at 9 years old to have mine corrected. It was called myofunctional therapy. I went weekly for a few years. It involved teaching me to locate a spot on my forward palate where I needed to place the tip of my tongue whenever I thought of it. It also involved using straw, spray bottles, crackers, relaxation, and a few other exercises to retrain me how to swallow, drink, etc. At the time, I didn't understand it, but I'm so grateful to my mother for getting me help. I see a lot of people on tv with thrusts and it drives me nuts b/c it's correctable. BTW, mine was caused by extended thumb sucking. Before they could begin my therapy, I had to stop sucking my thumb. I was referred to the specialist by my orthodontist who wouldn't put braces on me until it was fixed. This was all back in 1987, so I'm sure they have refined it by now.
