xp: who has a pikkolo carrier?

lemme know what you think of it

Re: xp: who has a pikkolo carrier?

  • I like it now a lot, but I don't trust myself trying to do a back carry on it. You have to slide lo under your armpit to get it on. So once front carry is unbearable, I'm getting a Beco. The Beco's upper buckle hit me in a bad spot on my back, that is the only reason why I didn't get it now for front carries.

  • I have it but am not using it right now.  I use the Babyhawk for when we're out of the house and a woven wrap for when we're home.  It just seems easier for me to deals with tying instead of buckling but that might change as the LO gets bigger.  I'm thinking about getting a Beco because I'm not sure I'll trust it for back carries.

  • Not a fan at all.  I sold it.  The FF carry was awkward, it was really hard to do back carries, and the whole thing was just uncomfortable for me (and it looked like it was for DD too).  My Beco is like eleventy billion times softer, more comfortable, and easy to use.
  • I guess everyone is different, because I love mine..I find it super comfortable and easy to use.  My six-monther is 20+ lbs and I put him in a forward-facing carry almost every day and I've never had a problem.

Of course, I'm not a carrier collector, and the only other one I've ever used is a Moby, so I have nothing to compare it to.

But I have chronic back problems and a big baby, and the Pikkolo has been great for us.

I really like ours too, a lot. I don't FF him at all, just front facing in or on my back if DH is there to help, and I have found it to be really comfy on my back and shoulders. I wouldn't do a hip carry in any carrier so haven't tried it in the P. I've had him in there for hours (when we were walking around Vegas) and we were both happy as clams.

  • I LOVE it for back carries.  I put the carrier on a chair or couch, sit him in it and then I sit in front of him and pull the carrier on.  (I'm not as fond of putting him on in front and turning him to my back, but I can do it.)  I had my toddler (29 lbs) in the back carry for an hour when I was cooking dinner and it felt great!

It's okay for hip carries.  I'm not sure if I'm not adjusting it well or what, but I can't do it for as long as I can do a hip carry in my ring sling.  I like it for front-facing in carries, but not as much for front facing out.  (Although I mostly bought it because my husband prefers front facing out and I want him to have an alternate to the bjorn).

Also, he's approaching 20 pounds and I haven't bought the support belt yet.  I'm hoping the hip carry and front carry will be a tad more comfy when I get it.

  • I just got one and I hate it.

The front carry is uncomfortable.  When I cross the straps in the back they cross too high on my back and it puts a lot of pressure on my shoulders.

The hip carry is aweful.  The strap going across my shoulder is practically strangling me.

The back carry actually isn't so bad.  It was pretty comfortable for me, but DD seems uncomfortable.  She actually seemed uncomfortable in all the carries.  I am going to return it and get a ring sling, I think.  I mainly wanted it for the hip carry with the option to back carry, but it's not worth it.
