Heartburn Help

Tums are not getting the job done.  What else can I take?  I am still queasy with slight m/s so I'm scared to take anything liquid.  TIA for any recommendations.

Re: Heartburn Help

  • I am taking Zantac 150 twice a day and it seems to be working most of the time. My OB is totally fine with this. Hope you find some relief soon :)
  • My doctor said i could take Prilosec OTC, i have and seriously i don't have heartburn anymore.  It is great.

  • i just happened to be in hosp wk 28 when heartburn hit me like a truck!  at first they gave me tums.  then i complained that it wasn't making me feel any better.  in fact i kind of felt icky after i took it.  one of the nurses told me that all the pg ladies on that floor take pepcid ac (it's otc).  she said tums can make it worse... something to do with making more acid.  anyway pepcid was like magic!  a 12hr pill.  at 13hrs, if i forgot to take the pepcid, heartburn came back right away.

    hth!

  • My doc said Pepcid, Prevacid, or Zantac were all ok.  They're all slightly different drugs, so some work better than others for a particular person.

Zantac made me feel awful, so I take Pepcid twice a day.  I definitely notice if I've forgotten it.
