How in the world do you change a LO who does nothing but roll away from you while you try? Ben and Eli are like escape artists when it comes to diaper changes! I can't diaper with one hand, so I'd appreciate any tips!
Distracting toys (lights, music, etc) are the only way I can get DD to sit still long enough to change her. I have to clear the area before hand to, if theres anything near by she'll roll and go for it.
I now change all diapers, dress DS, and do post-bath on his changing table. It helps a lot with keeping him from rolling around. Also, like pp said I give him something he isn't used to having...a diaper, the tube of desitin, a wipe, etc...
I have this trial size bottle of baby lotion that he is currently obsessed with that I only let him touch during changes. That'll probably last another couple of days. Then I'll have to change tactics again.
If he's really squirrely I just put the diaper on half-assed (literally sometimes!) just to get it on, and then fix it afterward. I find this helps because if I try to do it perfectly the first time he just rolls right out of it every time.
I'm so glad you posted this, I've been meaning to but kept forgetting, go figure.
DS does this all the time, it's crazy hard to get a daiper on him now. I will usually try to get him interested in a toy or I hand him the wipes, they are in a crinckly package that he loves.
Right now I give Lauryn the cap to her bottle. That seems to do the trick. Not sure how long it will last but I am miking it for all its worth. Though singning the isty bitsy spider seems to work sometimes.

I whistle. I can't whistle very well but it keeps his attention and he laughs a bit.. stays still long enough for me to get the diaper done up! Otherwise I get DH to come in and distract him if he's home.

This exactly. I give her the bottle of lotion most of the time.. or a diaper to look at.

this makes me giggle...I've said a few times lately that changing DD's diaper (or changing her clothes) is like "wrestling an alligator".
I try to either give her a small toy or something to distract her. Or, I sing to her (sometimes that will make her stop wiggling and rolling around).
There have been a few times where I've had to call DH into help by distracting her and keep her from rolling by holding her arms down while I finish.
It is really crazy sometimes!
