2nd Trimester

Does your dr only call you back if something is wrong on a test?

I had my glucose test done last week & haven't heard anything back yet.

I forget if they only call you back if something is wrong???

  • For my quad screen they called to tell me b/w was fine. Same thing after the NT scan, I think.

  • It may vary in other practices but my Dr only calls back if something's wrong.
  • For the glucose test, my doc ONLY calls if you fail.

  • My doctor shares my results at my next appointment.  I've never had anything wrong, so I'm assuming she would call if she had bad news....
  • I think that's just Planned Parenthood. Stick out tongue

Seriously though, my doctor calls with results whether they're good or bad. If I were you, I'd call and see if your results are in yet.

  • I've always heard that no news is good news, Im sure if they found something bad they would tell you right away if its serious:)
  • I go to a Midwifery and they will get back to you with results even when there is nothing wrong.  I appreciate the follow up and it gives me peace of mind.

  • My doc doesn't call unless something is wrong...but they told me I'm more than welcome to call them and check.

  • I've heard of that before - mine doesn't - but, my glucose was back today - about 30 seconds after they pricked my finger...the lab tech wrote the numbers down for the doctor...
  • Mine will only call if there is an issue, but if it's on your mind and you don't want to wait until your next appointment to go over the results than give them a call.

  • My doctor only calls if there is a problem.  He had me do my glucose at week 15 because of issues I had in my last pregnancy.  Since I never heard back, I assumed it was good but I ended up calling them to confirm it.  It was good news for me.  Just call if you want to know for sure.

  • One of the drs in the practice calls no matter what.  the other only calls when there's something wrong.

  • yup, they only call us with an issue (thank God I have never received a call!)
  • My office goes by "no news is good news". If you haven't heard anything yet, I wouldn't worry.

I did call to check my 1 hour GD test last week only because I failed it at 9 weeks and I wanted to make sure I passed it this time. I did.

I was going to ask this...I have to do my test this week.
  • yes - my ob always says 'no news is good news'
  • My office calls with all results. I think mostly because I am friends with the NP , and because I like to know the quantitative results- not just if they are normal or not. Give them a call if you are curious :)
  • My doctor said he would only call if something was wrong.

  • You should ALWAYS check back when they don't call (or send lab slips by mail). Most my docs mail me lab results - normal or abnormal.

I've had many doctors fail to tell me when stuff was abnormal - I even had 3 heart attacks because no one informed me exactly how low my potassium was... I tend to run low - but it was lower then usual. And a friend of mine's wife died young of ovarian cancer because no one followed through calling her for abnormal labs. 2.5 years later they discovered the labs when her cancer was stage 4. she spent 2.5 years thinking she was crazy for complaining of symptoms, not sick. and didn't find out that the labs were overlooked til it was too late.

    NEVER assume!!! Tongue Tied
