mechanic

My car is acting funky and the "service engine soon" light just came on.  My engine is still under warranty, but nothing else (no transmission, ect ect ect) Only the engine.

Do I take it to the dealership?

Do I take it to a mechanic?

And if you vote mechanic --- who do you go to in town??? I got a new car about 4 years ago and haven't been to a mechanic in forever!!

Re: mechanic

  • I usually go to Lambs, they are reasonable and pretty quick. DH used to work there for about 6 months and he was liked that they didnt take advantage of the customers like other places he has worked.

  • I'd take it to the dealership.  They can look at it and tell you what's wrong before they charge you to fix it.  Right?

DH has taken my car to the dealership before just so they can tell us the problem.  Then he fixes it himself.

  • DH works at a dealership now.. and he always tells me to be very diligent on making sure they know to call before fixing anything. In writing on the workorder, or not cost to you. It doesnt always get relayed to the mechanic from the advisor. visa versa.
