Haven't gotten mine yet, although I did get a letter last week saying that it was coming. (wonder how much money it cost us to send all of those prenotification letters out?). I plan on filling mine out when I get it.
We got ours, my DH was being funny last night say he was not going to complete it because he was reading it over and in 70 something years your information becomes public.
Mind you, he is 41, so at 111+/- years old, I am sure he will have other concerns (or none at all).

I think I heard about 85 million. But they say that it increases mail back of the census by 10-12% which means people will not be sent out to get the info hence actually saving money.

Yeah, we got ours yesterday and DH just has to put it in the mail today.
Oh, and I think they sent those letters because it is much more expensive to have a census worker come to your house to get the info if people don't fill it out and send it back. At least, I hope that's the case haha

wouldn't it be eaiser if we could just fill it out online?

Yeah, I was wondering how much it cost to send the "Your Census is Coming!" letter too. Of course, I was wondering that when we got all those mailings for the "stimulus checks" we got also. Our tax dollars at work!

This exactly. Good use of tax dollars huh? LOL

They are actually also making sure that the mail is not returned undeliverable. I think that is quite important as well, it is expensive to send out the offical census forms to just have them sent back.

I worked on the 2000 census at what I like to call the "senseless bureau." Yes, they'll send an enumerator to your house if you don't fill it out. Several people each year refuse to fill it out and then...pull guns out at enumerators! seriously? what the heck? This census they spent millions of dollars trying to give the enumerators digital hand held devices like pdas...only to figure out that the gov't contractor they hired couldn't do it in time so they had to spend millions more to print it all out in paper. The GAO (government accountability office) investigated and it's a huge mess. So many wasted tax dollars. Sigh.
