NBR- anyone use BareMinerals?

I started using it as a foundation a few months ago and I like it pretty well, but the brushes it comes with are crap!  I have to give my bathroom counter a wipedown after everytime I do my makeup- the bristles all break off and it makes a huge mess.  And it gets all over my clothes.  No

Has anyone used a different/better brush?  I like the concealer brush and the MineralVeil brush, but the main one is the one I hate.

I bought an Urban Decay blush brush that I LOVE, but it's really $$ and I was hoping to not spend too much more money on this stuff.

Thanks!

Re: NBR- anyone use BareMinerals?

  • Oh, I hated the Bare Minerals big brush. It was awful and fell apart in less than six months. Plus, it scratched my face. I use a big fluffy natural hair brush from Sephora. It's a lot like this one. I think they have some that are a little cheaper. IMO, nice brushes are a good investment, though. I have had some of mine for over ten years.

  • I have never had an issue with my brush, but I bought the shorter brush so it would fit into my makeup bag more easily.

    :-)

  • I have had my brush for several years now and I think it shed for the first couple of weeks, but I havent had any problems since. Maybe you should take it back to the store and see if you can get a new one.
  • If you have a specific kind of brush you like, maybe check ebay.  I got mine there for 1/3 of the price.
  • Their brushes are really hit or miss.  The short foundation brush that came with my set was a ***, but the longer brush I bought was (and still is) great.  Have you tried washing it to see if you can maybe get all the loose bristles out?

Hmmm... I haven't had any issues with the big BareMinerals brush. I do have a big Chanel brush that I love, but it's $$$. You might try going to Sephora and just checking out some of their brushes to see what feels best to you.
  • I noticed it was scratchy at first too.  I didn't have the bristles falling out issue though.  I think I used a Sonia Kashuk brush for a few months.  I've since gone back to the Bare Minerals brush but I received a different set and threw away the old scratchy brush from before.  The new one in the set wasn't scratchy.  So I think it really is hit or miss with their brushes.  The outlet in San Marcos sells tons of brushes for cheaper and you can try them out.  They are from the larger sets that have been broken down and sold individually.
