I haven't run in nearly a year, but I miss it so much. I really want to start up again, but am terrified particularly for my boobs. I'm not really concerned about being sore anywhere else, but my chest is significantly larger.
Any suggestions on sports bras? I don't think my old ones will fit
Re: Runners - when did you start running again after baby was born?
i started walking when she was 4-6 weeks(not long walks). then at 8 weeks i was power walking. after that, i started running on the treadmill at 10 weeks maybe? may have been earlier--i had insomnia, so i was up anyways!
i was worried about my boobs too. i got up in the morning (sometimes 4 or 5) and pumped. then ran after that. i am a size 32 h or j (something crazy like that!) and i got one sports bra at nordstroms and one at petticoat fair. i wear a super tight sports tank (one that is meant for small boobed people) over that bra. i'm sure that's not recommended but i have always done that to keep the bounce down.
I got a great sports bra to strap those puppies down and started running again after my 6wk post partum check. I took it really easy in the beginning though and only ran a mile or so. Before I got pregnant, I regularly ran 25-30 miles a week. By the time Will was able to be in the jogging stroller, I was up to 2-3 mile runs and now I'm actually running more than I was before I got pregnant.
That was the worst part of pregnancy/recovery for me. I missed running SO much!!
ETA: I have an Under Armour sports bra that cost about $60 but it is amazing. My boobs don't bounce all over the place AND I can still breathe.
ETA #2: I always make sure my boobs are empty before running. In the beginning, that meant I had to pump right before I ran....now I just make sure Will's nursed in the last couple hours or so and I'm good to go.
