She is the woman that had an affair with John Edwards. I really wish news outlets would stop reporting on this stuff. I don't understand why mistresses should get so much attention for sleeping with a married man? They and the man who cheated should be ashamed of themselves! She seems like a real whack job. Elizabeth Edwards might not be a nice person but she deserves commitment in her marriage. John should have divorced her if she was so horrible. Ugh!

Is she better off being humilated, lied to, called names and then divorced? I think not.

ETA: I do feel bad for Elizabeth that she is sick. I am really not making judgments on her and hope it doesn't come off that way. I feel like John and Rielle should not have done what they did and the publicity they are getting is disgusting.

John Edwards in the biggest douchebag politician out there.  I understand what you're saying, but I don't think any of the publicity they're getting is positive, even the recent interview with Rielle.  All it does is remind everyone of what a scumbag he is.

I truly hope his political career is over.

I don't think they are getting divorced. She left John, but frankly I think she needs his insurance, and sadly she probably won't live long enough to finalize a divorce.

I honestly don't care what people do in their private lives, but Elizabeth knew what John was doing before he ran for President. They BOTH knew what would happen if his affair came out during the Presidential race. It would have been devastating if he had been the nominee. They both deceived the American public and hundreds of people who dedicated their lives to getting John elected. Elizabeth is stuck living a horrible tragedy, but it's a tragedy she helped to create. And John is just disgusting through and through IMO.

I agree that they both helped create what has happened. I am not sure how that ties into my initial post? I was really making a point about the media coverage this story is getting.

I just read an article about this on people.com.  I feel horrible for Elizabeth Edwards.  I would want to do some major bodily harm to John if I were her.

How in the world did Elizabeth Edwards help create the tragedy of her husband a) having an affair, b) fathering a child, and c) denying paternity of said child?
