Not as much as my 3 year old watches! If it's on, she looks at it sometimes. I usually just have music playing on it. But, when my 3yo has a kid show on, Natalie does follow the bright colours and/or dances to the music - so funny - it's more like a wiggle.
Maybe an hour a day, give or take. Some days its not at all, other days its a good distraction while I'm making his food, vacuuming, whatever.
This. I also have the TV on for myself a good chunk of the day, mostly for noise, and she looks at that sometimes (but doesn't intently watch it the way she watches her Baby Einstein DVD's). Not sure if that counts.
Honestly none at all. I don't really want them to (I have twins) and I work full time but our nanny has only turned the tv on once when we were expecting a blizzard and she was checking the weather.
I will say though, that if I stayed at home, the tv would be on an hour or two a day for me to keep my sanity. I don't know how our nanny does it.
We never turn on anything specifically for my 9 month old, and she really doesn't watch the TV even if something else is on. She does like it when sports are on... that gets her attention the most.

Isn't that kind of double-standard-y?

I work alone at home and I have the TV on all day as background noise. DD plays and explores but when I stop for a break we cuddle and watch Fraggle Rock. Most of the time HGTV is on so with the exception of a couple of shows that have fun music, it's not a great channel to watch when you are a baby.

We are bad. The tv is always on here. O watches sometimes, but usually when we are playing on the floor. My dad cones over and turns on Turner Classic Movies, and O seems to pay the most attention to those. He was enthralled withthe opening sequence to West Side Story. As far as total viewing time, I'd say he gets about 45-60 min/day but it's broken up.
I try not to have the TV on for DD, even now at almost 10 months old. But like other pp said, to keep my sanity as I am a mostly SAHM ( I work 2 days a week)...I do watch it a couple hours a day. I watch one hour in the AM (Today show or GMA) and then later in the afternoon I watch Oprah or Ellen. DD doesn't really pay attention to it.
The silence can be annoying so I keep my iPod on most of the day. We love music!
Wow, I feel like a BAD mommy. DD LOVES Elmo so I put that one for her once a day so I can get things done around the house and she watches one of her baby einstein dvds also a few hours later. I usually do it in the morning and than one around 5 so I can cook breakfast and get laundry going and than get dinner ready. She loves the TV.
Truthfully not much. If she's gets super fussy and nothing else helps we'll put on Nick Jr. It does entertain her for a few minutes and calms her down. Then she'll just start playing again so we change the channel. I'm not against her watching TV at all, but only do it when necessary.
I have only put the tv on for DD a couple of times. While she was teething and nothing made her happy (actually, including the tv, but I tried), and two or three times when her naps went super short. I youtube Raffi because she's in love with him and it's just him sitting there singing.
That's the beauty of DVR.. I can watch my shows when she's asleep or nursing.
We tried a Baby Einstein video once and she did not care for it. I was hoping we'd be able to use that to make dinner/clean the kitchen in the evenings, but no dice. So she comes with us into the kitchen and hangs out in her highchair.
No more than an hour a week. We only really have the tv on at night after dinner and DS's bath. DS will usually play on his own for a bit and then fall asleep in our arms while we're watching. He doesn't usually pay attention to it. Every now and then he will though.
Only when I'm cutting his nails- it's the only thing that keeps him still long enough. Other than that, he doesn't watch any. Too many studies pointing at an increase of ADHD when children watch tv under the age of 2.
DD has never watched TV. I would rather interact with her, read to her, go for walks etc than have her parked in front of the TV. I intend to avoid the TV until she is at least 2 years old. Our Au Pair knows that and also won't have her watch TV when she takes care of her.

i never turn the tv on for him to watch specifically, but if DH is home and wants to watch sports, Joshua is in the room b/c our condo is not big enough to take him elsewhere. we try not to have him angled toward the tv though. so this only happens usually on the weekends.
Not much. I have it on to Food Network or HGTV sometimes for maybe an hour when we get home in the afternoons, but he rarely even looks up at it. He does love to play with the remote, though.

I don't see how it's double standard-y at all. The nanny gets paid to watch the babies. Her job is to take care of and entertain them. She does not get paid to watch tv.
If or when you worked, did you get paid to watch tv? Most likely not. being a nanny is a job like any other.
Re: How much TV does your 6-7 mo watch?

I have BabyFirstTV which is for infants and toddlers and put that on for him, though, so he's not sitting around watching One Life to Live... LOL!
