Hey Girls,
My MIL bought me the Summer infant slim and secure baby video monitor from BRU. It has mixed reviews and now I find myself considering returning it. Do you think I should start with an Angelcare movement monitor instead of a video one? I plan on having LO sleep next to us the first month or so in the bugaboo bassinet and then moving her to the crib in the next room over. Any advice or suggestions on a good monitor? TIA!
Re: help me in choosing a monitor
I personally don't have a video monitor at all. I have a Fisher Price one with a wrist attachment, and I love it!
I have heard that the Angelcare ones are so sensitive it picks up the smallest movement, the people I know who have them don't really like them.
I'm in NZ and we have the tommee tippee movement monitor and it's great. It also has a thermometer on it which is really useful.
I didn't plan to get a movement monitor because I thought it was just businesses cashing in on paranoid parents.
I wasn't prepared for the stress of having a baby and being terrified it would stop breathing.
It's gone off a couple of times and I will never know if she would have started breathing again on her own (babies do hold their breath from time to time anyway) but I'm glad I don't have to find out.
Our house is tiny so a video monitor is not relevant for us.

I reg for this one for my shower at BRU and didn't get it. It was $180 there and I just got it for $115 on amazon today. My SIL has the same one and loves it....

We got the Sony one from BRU as we have phones and wireless internet and have heard lots of stories about interference. This one has so many channels it'd be nearly impossible to not find a clear channel. It has two receivers which is an added bonus.
Not interested in a movement monitor- too many false alarms, too much interference, and too many general bad reviews.
