Re: constipated
My DD was constipated from 4 months to about three weeks ago...literally. We tried everything from apple juice to prunes 3X/day. NOTHING worked. Just recently she's become more regular with a little help from the Lactulose the pedi prescribed.
I agree with PP...get the liquid glycerin suppositories. They work like a charm! GL!
If this happens, put her in a warm bath after you give her the suppository. We had this happen with our DD once and ended up calling the pedi at 11 at night. She was straining so hard and she couldn't pass it. We put her in the tub and massaged around her bum and she eventually went. It was hard as a rock, but she felt so much better afterwards and I don't think she could have gone without the suppository.
We went through a horrible experience with constipation this past summer - it was horrifying and heartbreaking, so I feel your pain. Poor baby.
We did everything we could think of as well - bicycling the legs, massaging the belly while in a warm bath, a children's laxative, juice, etc. When it was finally passing (and I apologize for the TMI) it was HUGE and wasn't coming out on it's own - DH had to pull it out for him. We were all sobbing. I don't know what caused it or what eventually worked to end it.
However, since then I have been giving DS a probiotic powder in his milk every morning. He has not had ANY constipation issues since and is a very healthy little boy. I would consider talking to your pedi about this - they are very useful - they essentially replace the good and natural flora in your stomach that is destroyed by medications and other toxins entering the body. We use this one: https://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=NW-2443
Good luck and I hope your LO feels better and gets relief soon.
