Baby Leah Martell was born on 3/11 at just over 37 week by c/s. She weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and was 20 inches long. The birth was pretty uneventful. Baby is doing very well.
For those of you who have been following along, she was diagnosed at about 28 weeks with a partial agenesis of the corpus collosum, which is the center part of the brain. Basically she is missing the piece that connects the two hemispheres. She had an MRI today, which showed that the agenesis is actually complete, meaning that it didn't develop at all. But other than that no other nuerological problems which is a relief.
She also has a physical defect of her thumb. She has 2 thumbs on her left hand. Well, it starts as one and then Y's off to two. We will see a genetic counselor about that. And then eventually we'll see a hand surgeon to correct it.
So that's it for now. I'll post pics when I get a chance. Thanks for all the support over the past months. The journey begins now!

Congrats!!!!
Leah was a game time decision - we decided that morning, but it had been on our list. And, yes the hospital has been amazing. We have gotten the thumb xrayed and the MRI all within 24 hours with results and everything. It's been great.
Congrats to you and your family! Welcome to the world Leah!
I love how you have babies born in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and all in March ... how neat

Congratulations! Glad you and baby are doing well.
congrats, I am sure she is adorable. My cousin was born with a thumb just like that on his right hand, they waited until his first birthday to see whether the left or right 'branch' of it was the opposable part of the thumb and surgically removed the other one- i was amazed at how easy it was to fix...and now he loves to tell people the story about how he was special and was born with three thumbs ( he is six now)
