Question - What's the best piece of parenting or pregnancy advice you have received?

Re: Hey LA - Share your advice and win!

  • To listen to everyones unsolicited advice (since everyone has some to give when it comes to parenting), thank them, then ultimately do what works for you & your baby.
  • Don't be afraid to snuggle away with your newborn. There's no such thing as spoiling them. Before you know it, they won't need you picking them up all the time anymore.

Sophie is only 7 months old and this turned out to be so true. I'm so glad I listened and enjoyed my time with her when I could hold her all the time. She can crawl and walk around on her knees now and she doesn't want mommy to pick her up all the time anymore :-(

  • Best piece of advice I received from other moms: To not compare my baby to other babies. I know the track my baby is on and I don't stress about how other babies hit mile stones before mine or if my baby is doing something early. As long as my baby is healthy, I don't worry about it!
  • Enjoy every minute b/c the time really does FLY by.
  • Every woman experiences pregnancy differently. The list of cravings, pains, feelings, etc. is long and unending. Utilize your instincts and your doctor's advice to determine what is best for your health as well as the little one's. Take advice from others with a smile and then utilize what works for you.
  • To always make time for tickle fights!
  • My mom told me to enjoy and have fun every step of the way... during pregnancy, when the baby is a newborn, when the baby gets older and older... and that every step will be a learning process.  She reassured me that most of it will be trial and error (this is my first baby) and not to stress out about mistakes, but to learn from them.  And most of all, enjoy it because children grow up so fast.  Made me teary eyed thinking this is how she raised us... and how, to her, we grew up so fast.

  • Expect the unexpected in pregnancy. Don't have your heart set on delivering your baby any certain way. When it is time, nature is going to take it;s course.
  • The best parenting advice I can give is to have faith in yourself and cut yourself some slack!

Use the pregnancy to your advantage, ladies!  You can only do it so long and really, who is going to question a pregnant lady eating spoonfulls of PB and chocolate chips?

  • I am newly pregnant and haven't spilled the beans to everyone but my mom told me to keep a pregnancy journal that my future child and I can enjoy later on. She also told me to read to my baby during the pregnancy and since I'm a teacher - I will definitely be doing this.

  • Enjoy every minute.  Pregnancy and those first few weeks go by so fast!  It is so true.  I cannot believe my first is almost 7 months!
  • Hopefully, I'm not too late. I was in meetings Smile

The best advice I have received was to listen politely to what everyone has to say, but in the end trust my instincts because only I will know exactly what is right for my child.

  • Best pregnancy advice so far is to not let the worry get in the way of enjoying every minute of the gift that is a healthy pregnancy.  To think of the worry as a sign of how much you love your baby (and the start of the lifetime of worry of being a parent!) rather than a negative thing.

  • Take prenatal yoga classes!! Every time I am there sharing with the other big bellies I feel better. It is also helping me to let go and trust myself!!
  • To relax and take everything in moderation!

  • I think the best advice is to relax and enjoy being pregnant! I'm always worried and impatient..my mantra is ...RELAX!
  • I'd say that it is impossible to spoil your newborn.  I believe our baby is the happiest because we are meeting all of his needs and that gives us a lot less frustration because of it.
