Other than teaching, any other jobs have summers off?

I am over social work.  I think maternity leave showed me this...

What other jobs are there at schools? Other jobs with summer's off?

I could get a "alternate" teacher's certificate in TX (and our district is pretty good at hiring alternate certificates, something like 40%), it would be great to teach HS sociology/psychology (other option is Middle school social studies, not sure about that)  but I bet those jobs are few....

If you want the Santa job, just be prepared for a LOT of travel.

cookie fueled travel is easier than sensible diet fueled travel, though...keep that in mind.

Considering she lives in TX, I'm guessing she wouldn't be working much if she did something snow related! Smile

  • Would it be better to do guidance counseling in a high school?  That seems like it would be an easy transition and more fun to help kids to apply for college vs. the social work stuff.

I was gonna suggest this. I know some public schools staff school psychologist/social workers/registered nurses, etc... that your you could be the lunch lady or a school bus driver.

  • I know someone who has a social work degree and she's a high school guidance counselor. Summers off! No teaching degree required!

  • You could teach anything in TX if you can pass the test. Once you get your alt cert in psych, you take one test per subject.
