to test or not , newb question

I guess this is a newbie question, but I am only 5 days late on my period and i know that this is enough to test. But I sometimes skip my periods and dont want to get exciteed and have the test crush me , this is so draining emotionally every time i remember the times i spent trying to not get pregnant , kind of makes me sad , i thought it would just happen.  i guess this is a rant sorry i just need to vent. Quick questions which test are better digital or blue or pink dye.

First, how do you know you're late? Do you know when you O'd? That can make a huge difference. Second, I would try FRER they are the most sensitive. GL!

Thats the thing I know im being inpatient , and i have that app on my blackberry that tells me my most fertile days.Me and my fiance had sexy time basically starting like 3 days before i was set to ovulate and every day until like 3 days after ovulation so im hoping and im so impatient im going to buy both just in case. thanks for the responses

Does your blackberry take and record your BBT or is it guessing based on the myth that everyone O's on the 14th day of their cycle?

 This, I have a driod and have a program that I can enter notes, BBT, CM and other items into it and it predicts and then confirms when you should O

you have to put it in at least 3 months and then it estimates like my cycles is 32 days , not the average 28 and it takes it into account ?

 

ps- what does ae mean

Then I say go ahead and test. However, if you get a BFP be sure to post it at 1st Tri.

I am not an AE , I was just wondering and looking for some support or comfirmation to take the test , no one knows im ttc , so i joined this board for some advice and in a way to vent. sorry if my question bothered someone .

I don't think your question bothered anyone.  I would, however, lurk a little on this board before posting to get a feel for it.  Once you decide whether or not it is for you an intro is usually the best way to go (if you haven't already done one).  One of the big 'no-no's' of the board are drive-by BFPs (you will find a few if you lurk). 

This is a great place for support and humour while TTC. Welcome and GL!  

ETA: Also, if you're five days past your expected period I would test... but that's just me!

test! You'll feel better after just knowing one way or another. GL!

I would test but realize that it may be BFN based on your history. Its better to know one way or the other. Also, since you have a history of missed periods you may have not ovulated or ovulated late. I would recommend charting to figure it out.
