new baby gift?

Ok, so good friends of mine just had a baby this morning (their first), so I'm trying to decide what to get them.  I'd like to give them something useful, and then something cute for the baby (a girl - they didn't find out until she was born).

So I'm thinking diapers from Target (they are not CDing) since they can be returned for another size if they don't get to them right?  And a gift card for dinner at one of the restaurants close to their house.  And then a cutesy gift?

Good idea?  Any other "useful" ideas?  I checked their registry and its pretty well covered.

Re: new baby gift?

  • I almost always order from etsy, especially for a girl.  I just ordered a monogrammed romper and burp cloths this morning for a friend. So cute!  You could always do Trumpette socks if you want something you can go to a store and get.
  • Ooo good call, both of you!  I have used our white noise machine for Jackson for almost 4 years now - it's a must have!  Perfect.

And yes, etsy is on my list - we won't see them until either next weekend or Easter (I'm going to leave it up to them, but maybe drop the gift off next weekend).

  • This is my favorite baby gift.  I like clothes or booties or hats but most parents I know think they are so cute that they don't want them to wear them!
