Toronto Babies

TGIF QOTD!

I has felt like the longest week on record, what with my son giving up his 12 hour nights of sweet sleep in favour of screaming. I'm so glad it's the weekend and my hubby can give me some time off (whether he likes it or not).

Today's question (also from Cubits):

What is the best part about raising your baby where you live?

Re: TGIF QOTD!

  • I live in a really nice neighbourhood in North York - very family-oriented and established, but still on the subway line (which DH takes to work) and close to my work, too. There's a beautiful park and trail that starts at the end of my street, and the elementary school is accessible from a path that connects to our crescent. I can see us staying here for good - it's the perfect place for kids to grow up. DH and I grew up in London (ON) and only moved to Toronto after we finished University, and this neighbourhood felt like home the minute we stepped in to it. We moved here from the Yonge & Sheppard area last summer and just knew it was where we wanted to raise our family.
  • Lots of greenspace.

  • the best part is how close we are to our family and friends. Pretty much anyone we're close to is within a 20 minute drive which is great. Especially so DS can be close to his cousins when he's older, that means a lot to me!

I am jealous of that. Most of our family lives in London (except one of DH's sisters and her family), as do most of our really close friends - the ones we grew up with and have known forever. I love living in Toronto, and neither of us could have our dream jobs if we moved back to London, but I do miss being just a quick drive away from our friends and family, rather than it being a whole weekend trip.

  • Our town is really nice and clean and very family oriented. We have great schools here too which I love.

My favorite though is that we are right on the lake, so we have a huge park and lots of trails to walk along when the weather is nicer.

We are also within 20 minutes of almost all of our family.

  • We live in the beach and it is fantastic.  Very pedestrian friendly with parks, and the board walk, and cool shops.  I really like how family friendly it is.  Everyone has a baby, a dog, and a very fancy stroller :)
