I am curious, too. We live in south FL and my pedi gave us the OK to hit the beach. I forgot to ask about sunscreen but I keep reading that you should not use on babies younger than 6 months.

When we go to the beach I plan on keeping him under an umbrella. I know come summer it will deff be too hot for direct sun contact with the Fl heat!
I was reading that a small amount of sunscreen is ok if you have to be in the sun but I'm still going to ask my pedi. I'm going to get him a hat and keep him in the shade or under the stroller cover as much as possible.

yes, I will take an umbrella as well. I have a baby pool that I am taking (smaller than those inflatable bathtubs) and I will put it under the umbrella. I also plan on going very early. But I know that their skins are very sensitive and the sun reflects in the sand/water. I will call my pedi as well before I go.
I was heading to S. Fla a month or so ago and asked my Pedi at the 2mth appointment and she said absolutely no sunscreen or beach or pool until 6months. Kinda made me sad -- I'm a beach baby myself -- but will be sticking it out until 6 months. Lucky the weather hasn't been beach worthy just yet anyway
Re: Sunscreen ?
