Dumb question

Does McDonald's sweet tea have caffeine? Saw someone mention their husband wanting them to cut back on sweet tea. I don't drink caffeine at all when I'm pregnant but I just drank an entire large sweet tea from McDonald's...I feel really dumb but it didn't occur to me it would have caffeine.

Re: Dumb question

  • yes, black and green teas have natural caffeine.  Its less than coke or other drinks but it still has caffeine in it.

  • I assume that it does.  I *think* it's less than what a can of Coke or Pepsi might have.
  • Yup, tea is caffeinated. I don't worry about drinking sweet tea (though Abe obvs does) because the way I make it, there is a large water to tea ratio. I have at least a glass a day :)
  • DH is the caffeine nazi, you would think Caroline will be born with 2 heads if i had a coke the way he acts...this would explain why i suddenly am less tired than i've been in almost 6 months...i miss caffeine! lol
  • I drank coke (probably half a can a day after 2nd tri) and DD only has 1 head.  (however she DOES have 25 toes......j/k!)Stick out tongue

    ::rolls eyes at your DH::

    I drank coffee throughout my pregnancy...DD has only one head that I can see! :)

    I know that's anecdotal, and plenty of docs recommend against caffeine, but you are welcome to use me as an example! :)

  • I would not have survived the lat 2/3rds of my pregnancy without my one pepsi a day.  It's not so bad!
  • A good family friend is an ob/gyn, and she drank diet coke throughout her pregnancy.  Mine says 1 a day is fine.

  • Thanks ladies!! Its amazing how much more energy I have with just a little caffeine...I'm glad to know its not a big deal to have it from time to time (just don't tell my husband!!)
  • My SIL and BFF are both OBs, and they both drank caffeine through their 2nd and 3rd tris, and have ok'ed me, too.

    Per them:  The fear is that some studies (not very good ones) are starting to link caffeine in 1st try to miscarriage.  It's not well substantiated, but because there is some data on it, I avoided it then.

    I have 1/2 cup of coffee with lots of milk in the morning, and then maybe 1 pepsi/coke/latte during the day.  That's my limit, and if I have more than that, HELLO insomnia!!!
