Another hospital update: Day 3

1HT

Well, we thought we would be going home today, but apparently not!  In case you haven't been following along, DD is in the hospital being treated for a possible staph infection in her blood.  The drs really thought it was probably a contaminated test and she was actually fine, but were treating her as a precaution.  However, today we found out that she has a strain of strep, not staph, and it could not possibly be a contaminate.  So they are consulting with infectious disease drs from the children's hospital and scheduled a spinal tap for this afternoon.  Liberty will have to be hospitalized and treated with IV antibiotics for a minimum of 10 days now, possibly 21 days.  I have to stay with her at all times.  DH works 12 hour days with only 1 day off a week.  My mom is coming down to stay with our other DD.

T&P, please!

  • What a difficult situation- I'm so sorry you're going through this! It's wonderful that your mom is available to help with DD1.

Lots of prayers for Liberty's health and your strength and sanity.

  • I am so sorry you have to stay for even longer now! Lots of t&p to you and Liberty!
  • I am so sorry. Many more T&P's your way! I was really hoping she would be going home today! Do you have to stay with LO, or do you not want to leave her?  have never been in your position, so I am not really sure I would or wouldn't do the same, but if you can leave I would and get a little bit of a break. It might be good for you, and I am sure the nurses would take amazing care of her. This has got to be terribly hard on you and your family. Stay strong!!
  • Wow. My prayers are with you, Liberty and your family. Hopefully you are only there for the 10 days. If I lived close to you I'd bring you a pancake breakfast.
  • I didn't think you were on here.  I guess you have your laptop at the hospital with you.  I just asked for T&P on 12-24 for Liberty.

Call me tonight if you get a chance.

  • Oh, no! You're in my prayers.

One of her parents has to be here at all times in case we have to make some sort of medical decision.  And since DH is working all the time and DD ebfs, I am pretty much stuck here.  The nurses provide medical care, but that's it.  It's not like when they're first born and you have the option of sending them to the nursery.  Tongue Tied

Thanks!! The cafeteria sent pancakes this morning, but no syrup! Worthless.

Thanks Lady.  If you don't hear from me, call me.  I'm usually ready for a chat.

  • My heart is breaking for you. I know it's awful to have to see your little baby hooked up to all those machines. And it's even worse when you feel like half of your heart is still at home!

Prayers for Liberty (as always) for a quick and speedy recovery and for DD1 that she understands why mommy hasn't been home. Hang in there, mama! We're all sending lots of positive thoughts your way!

  • Oh, no!  How terrible. My T&Ps are with you and your family.  Hang in there Susan.
  • T&P for you and Liberty. Feel better, LO.
