The last migraine I had was about 2 years ago...but after starting on clomid last month, I got one on the day I O'd and also today- CD1. Which Im sure is all related to hormones. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this, and if there was anything that had helped you? When I get them I lose vision on one side, see floaters, and have a headache so bad that I end up getting sick....and have to miss work if it is on a day Im working. (im a nurse) Im doing clomid +trigger+IUI this month, and Im pretty nervous Im going to get one with the trigger shot, when I O, etc. Any advice/experience would be helpful! Thanks ladies ![]()
Re: clomid and migraines
I didn't get migraines with clomid, but I did get headaches. I didn't put it together until after the fact. Are you taking it at night? That might help if you're not. My headaches did stop after the last dose, so hopefully they won't continue.
I didn't have any headaches from the trigger. I have been having cramps, similar to O pain for the past week. I'm sure that's trigger shot related. I haven't noticed any other s/e from the shot though.
Good luck!

My Chart / Info for Newbies
I am not prone to migraines but I had terrible effects from Clomid, including headaches. I switched to Femara (which serves the same purpose for IF) and no s/e's from it.
Also, are you on meds for elevated prolactin? If you don't mind sharing, what was your level at?
I got headaches when I took Clomid too.
It give me migraines, too. Estrogen fluctuation is one of my triggers. Because Clomid tricks the body into producing more estrogen than normal, taking the med means I am more likely to get them.
My level was around 26 (the lab that my md uses, uses a range up to 24 as normal) My OB/GYN said that it isnt high enough for her to think it would have an impact on fertility, or for me to go on bromocriptine for it. We'll see when I have my first RE appt next month!
