Thrush?

I posted the other day about having some breast pain. I haven't noticed any real symptoms in my daughter, although she has been more gassy lately, and the only thing I have noticed with me is that my nipples are still cracked and they hurt even when I'm not nursing..  I called the LC and she suggested trying some lotramin (antifungal cream) fora  few days to see if it helped me then to call the ped. so that if it is thrush we don't cross contaminate.

Has anyone else or their baby had thrush, without major symptoms?

Re: Thrush?

  • I had thrush at 13 months.  It felt like sharp, shooting pain in my nipples and hurt especially when DS nursed.  He had no symptoms whatsoever.  A lactation nurse diagnosed me, I called my OB and they called in the All Purpose Nipple Ointment.  Called the pedi and they gave me Nystatin for DS because both mom and baby need to be treated.  If you already have thrush, I don't think you can prevent c-c.  I would think you'd both need to be treated.

  • if you have thrush and you've been bfing you've already cross-contaminated.  If you have it your baby does.  It feels like broken glass in your boobs.  I know that sounds weird but if you have it you'll know what I mean.  My son really had no symptoms either, just 1 tiny white patch in his mouth.
