bringing nursing pillow to hospital?

Did you/are you planning to bring a nursing pillow (EZ-2-Nurse or whatever you have) to the hospital? It occurs to me that maybe I should, so I can learn how best to use it while the nurses and LCs are around to help me.

Also, for those of you who had c-sections, does the position of the twin nursing pillow irritate your incision?

TIA!

Re: bringing nursing pillow to hospital?

  • I didn't take the pillow with me and I'm glad I didn't.  I found that the nursing pillows didn't work well for me when the boys were newborn.  Once they got a little bigger it was easier.  But in the beginning, I used an assortment of  bed pillows to get everyone in the right place and at the right angles.

  • I didn't bring mine, but wonder if it would have been a good idea.  I used it immediately upon coming home (after 4 days) and found it incredibly useful!  But piling pillows at the hospital worked out just fine.

BTW, I have the My Brest Friend Twins version.

  • I'm planning on bringing mine.  I figure that if it works, it works, if I need to go an alternate route, I'll find out sooner than later!

  • I have mine packed in my trunk so it's there already.  I'll definitely try to use it while in the hospital so the LC and RN can help me get used to it.  If it's too bulky (ez2nurse) or doesn't work out then I don't have to use it, but I figured it can't hurt to have it with me.

  • Really wish I would have brought mine this time aroundl. I would have made the first few days easier.
  • I brought mine, but it was a waste of time, because the boys seemed to be sliding off it in the hospital bed.

The LC raided the floor and got me every spare pillow she could find - I must have had a good dozen pillows that I used.

I actually ended up telling DH to take the thing home with him because it just took up space.

I never had any problems with it bothering my incision.

  • I brought mine and am glad I did. It was good to use it with the LC around just to make sure the boys were being positioned right on it. It didn't bother my incision at all.

  • I wish I would have.  The hospital pillows sucked for that.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I have both a boppy and a my breast friend. I took them both when I had DS, but the boppy was the easiest to manouver in those early days. It was also comfy to sit on. I'm getting the EZ2nurse twin pillow for home, but in those first days I don't think we'll be trying to tandem so I won't be bringing it. If you can pick up a boppy it may be helpful. I found mine for $2 at a yardsale :)
