DH and I give DD a J&J Lavendar bubble bath every night before bed. I just read something that says maybe I shouldn't. Could cause UTIs? Anyone else hear this? Anyone else do bubble baths?
I was told no bubble baths, strong scented soaps, or scented lotions.
I got this off of babycenter:
Bubble baths have been linked to urinary tract infections (UTIs) so
experts recommend avoiding them until your child is at least 3 years
old. Bubble bath formulas, as well as strong soaps that contain
deodorants or potent scents, can irritate the opening of your baby's
urethra (where urine comes out) if the soap is not rinsed off
completely. "This makes it painful to urinate so the child ends up
holding the urine and voiding incompletely, which can lead to UTIs,"
says Shelly J. King, a pediatric urology nurse practitioner at the
James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

I was told not to make it a bubble bath, it could dry out LO's skin. My pedi also recommended not to use scented stuff till LO is older. But DD has super fair skin to go along with her strawberry-blonde hair.

Yeah they cause UTI's when my DD1 got a UTI when she was 6 months old the first the dr asked was if i gave her bubble baths. My DD has had 2 bubble baths in almost 2 years. its not worth the risk of another UTI, they can cause super high temps, my DD1's temo was 104 when she had her UTI, a temp that hig can cause seizures which can affect them the rest of their life. Its not worth all the possible bad things to give them a bubble bath.

On a side note, I heard Lavender wasn't good for baby boys. Something about estrogen production.
