So in my previous post (those with curious kitties) I noticed they starred out c-o-o-n in reference to my Maine C-o-o-n cat. I was very confused and asked my DH why it would do that. He sighed "Babe, c-o-o-n is a racial slur for black people" my response "What!? Since when!?" apparently I'm not in the loop on racial slurs. I just thought it was short for raccoon. lol.

Re: My cat has a racist name for the breed?
Wow I didt know it was a racial slur either..thats why I was shocked when it was starred..hah.. learn something new everyday!
ETA: I thought maybe *** was seen as another slur term for vag or something I was trying to figure out why!
Well if you just type out c-o-o-n its starred..*** see? she didnt know why the bump had starred her.. not cuz the name >.<
The graham cracker thing made me crack up!
No, that's not what anyone is saying. She's saying that the bump gods starred her post because "***" was in it, and "***" is a racial term. I had the unfortunate experience of having ex in-laws who were racist, and I heard it said more than once, no matter how much I protested. blech.
This. Also, my sister has two Maine Coons. It's a beautiful breed!
just some history for you all...

the word C-o-o-n was used a very long time ago, around the time of slavery, which depicted black men specifically as lazy, ignorant, and self-obesssed. It was sort of the pre-N-word slang used for black people a very long time ago.
