Which middle name with Kian?

We have decided to name our son Kian (Key-in).  I have narrowed it down to two middle names:

Kian William

Kian Miles

Which does everyone prefer?  I am also open to suggestions if something else works.  Our last name ends with "son".

I have been trying to create a poll but can't it get to post for anything!

Re: Which middle name with Kian?

  • I like Kian William the best but honestly they both sound nice.

  • I like Kian William.
  • I prefer Kian William, what a great name!

    Kian Thomas would also work.

You know the 'i' looks like an 'l' on my screen, so I thought you were naming your kid after the Klan.

Ditto! I did a gaspy double take.

I don't like Kian at all, though.

  • It doesn't at all seem like it would be pronounced the way you intend. FYI people will probably call him *Kiye - Anne* a lot.

Really? I didn't think that at all. To me, it's obviously "key-ihn."

  • I understand that people may not know how to pronounce the name from time to time.  That is just something we will have to deal with.  I honestly had seen the name on other boards and never could figure it out myself!  After I realized it was like Ian with a "K", the name really grew on me.  I have an Aaden and a Noah and am ready for a name that isn't everywhere.

Thanks for all of the responses.

I chuckled over the "Klan" comments.

  • Why not spell it the traditional way, Cian?

  • Yes, I really love the traditional spelling of it too.  The husband and I are still discussing this.  I sort of feel like spelling with a "K" may look a little feminine (although when I see the name Kevin I don't think femine), but I think it would be misprounced less.  We have a few weeks to decide since I am due at the end of April.

I agree with you. I like the name either way, but I think you will have more pronunciation problems with Cian than Kian. I have no idea if that will really be the case, it just seems that way to me.

  • I like WIlliam. That is our chosen middle name for LO, too.

  • My son is Kian Ryder which works pretty well. And yes a health care provider called looking for Klan, I told her he usually doesn't use his Klingon name when on this planet.

Don't care for the Miles, go with the William if your stuck on those two.
