Registry return question

I know this has been posted but honestly I'm being lazy and don't feel like searching. But I got soooo many towels from BRU for my shower with no gift recipts. BRU wouldn't let me return them. So one of my friends said that if I put them on my registry they would then return them. Is that true? Do I just put them on my registry and then put that they were purchased? Does anyone know how this works or been successful with this? I really don't want to be stuck with 6 packs of the multipack towels. I know we'll never use them all:-)

And for what it's worth, BRU return policy SUCKS!

Re: Registry return question

  • That is so weird...i have returned many items not on my registry.....  are you sure they are from BRU?  maybe go to a diff. one and try with someone different?

  • I just had my registry this weekend and got a lot of duplicates as well on a bunch of stuff.  I also received stuff that  I didn't register for, but had gotten as hand me downs so I just added them and clicked purchased.

Haven't been there to try returning, but it better work!  All the business we're bringing to that damn store with our registries!!

  • I had to return some things without receipts.  I went onto my registry and put down that multiples were bought and didn't have a problem returning them.  One item, I didn't even get from BRU.  So, definitely worth a try.

  • FWIW, if you have it marked on your registry as purchased, they'll take it back with no questions.  However, try to return an item without even a gift receipt to ANY store, and let me know how their return policy is, lol.  I hope you didn't register at Target as well.

  • I'm not convinced there even is a policy b/c I tried to take some stuff back in January without a receipt and they wouldn't take it unless it was on my registry (I didn't have a BRU registry).  So I went home and put everything on there, plus I got some more stuff I wanted to take back so I added that too.  I went back to the store and the lady said that they no longer require things to be on the registry in order to return them, it had only been about 3 weeks since I had tried the first time.

I agree with pp that you could try another store because their policy is definitely not consistently applied, but all it may take is to try the same store on a different day when someone else is working.  Good Luck!

I had heard the same thing, but I went this past Saturday, and they let me return whatever was from their store...

I'd try a different one, or different person...

  • Thanks ladies! This LO has brought over 1200 dollars in business to them and they are giving me trouble for returning 4 packs of their brand towels/washcloths that won't even equal 60 dollars. But I put them on my registry now, and put that several were purchased, so I'm hoping I won't have trouble. The other BRU is 40 minutes away from me so I'd rather not go that far. I really appreciate the comments. Have a great day all!

  • yup they just pull it up to check that it was on the registry and they returned it without any problem. I actually returned a boppy to BRU that I know was purchased at Target but didn't want to go through the hassle of Target so I added it to BRU and marked it as purchased.
  • I agree, their return policy sucks.  We didn't register at BRU, but got a bunch of gifts that we're pretty sure came from there, but they said without receipt or being on the registry they couldn't take it back.  Pissed me off, because some of it was BRU brand!  Another reason I have no interest in supporting that store.
  • Yeah, just add them and mark them as purchased. They will return it with no problem. It's actually not that bad of a policy.
