BOB--Revolution vs. Ironman

I'm trying to decide between the BOB Revolution and the BOB Ironman.  We have a Chicco travel system, so we won't be adapting for use with an infant car seat and I plan to use it almost entirely for road running (paved trails/sidewalks).  We'll continue to use our Chicco or umbrella Maclaren stroller for day-to-day stuff.  Has anyone used the BOB Ironman, and can you comment on it?  The biggest difference is the swiveling wheel on the front of the revolution vs. fixed wheel on Ironman, and a hand brake on the Ironman which I think is kind of a big deal for the running I'll be doing.  TIA!

Re: BOB--Revolution vs. Ironman

  • I have the Revolution 12".  The front wheel can either be fixed or swivelling on it, and it has a wrist strap to prevent runaway stroller.  I plan to use it for hiking, day to day stuff, and dog walking.  We'll see about the running, I've never been much good at it, but the option to fix the front wheel straight is there if I should decide to give it a go.

  • I have the Revolution and run with it fairly regularly (with the infant car seat adapter).  I've tried running with it with the locked wheel on the roads and it is annoying, I so much prefer to allow the wheel to swivel.  Granted I'm not very fast but the swivel wheel doesn't seem to jitter at all and the fixed wheel makes following the curves of the road a pain.

  • I have the Ironman (single and double) and I use it for running only. ?There's a safety issue with the swivel wheel and when you're running downhill especially you need the hand brake. ?For a serious runner, I'd use the Ironman.
  • I definitely would go with the revolution.  I've had a revolution duallie for 2+ years and love it!   Before that I had a jogger for DS w/o a swivel wheel and it was a pain when we would go on walks or to the park.  You should never use the jogger with the wheel swiveling to run and I don't but it's so easy to lock and unlock, I would definitely go with a swivel wheel!  I don't think the hand brake is a big deal and I'm bad and don't use the safety strap that comes with the revolution but you could.
