Recommend children's playgrounds in NOVA with nice facilities

I'm planning a GTG for a few friends in the DC area and one lives in Charlottesville. So, we wanted to do something in the NOVA so that it would be convenient for her to get to since she's driving the farthest. I'm thinking the Fairfax area would be best.

Do you have any recommendations for nice children's playgrounds that have good equipment, decent bathroom facilties (a must), and picnic tables. TIA.

  •  This place usually gets crazy busy in the nice weather and on weekends, but it's an amazing playground for the little ones!!  In Fairfax county, McLean area.

I've heard great things about this playground but have yet to go. If you go, let us know how it is

  • Sofka--we took DS last year (even though he wasn't even close to mobile yet!), and it really is an amazing place.  We found parking across the street near the soccer fields was easier than trying to fight the crowd in the small parking lot directly next to the park.  There's so many things for the kids to play on, the whole playground is covered in that soft rubber ground so no one gets hurt, and the only thing you pay for is the carousel (only a couple dollars).  I'd def recommend going during the week or in the earlier part of the day because it really does get hectic.

Thanks for the recommendation and the info. I hope to go sometime during the week. It seems like it could get really busy on the weekends, especially if it's nice outside.

  • Clemyjontri park is definitely the nicest, but if you want to avoid crowds or go further out into Fairfax, check out Burke Lake Park or Frying Pan Park.  Frying Pan Park has wagon rides, a petting zoo and a cute country store.  Burke Lake Park has a train and a carousel (I think one or two dollars to ride them), an ice cream parlor, mini golf and of course a playground.  The grounds at Burke Lake are really nice - we like taking the kids there.

  • We *love* Clemyjontri and go as often as we can!

Thanks so much. Both of these look great as well.
