**Gigs***

Would you mind sharing your exp with the mag with me....with my high BP I may end up getting that as well and have heard some scary thigns about it. How did you feel while taking it and how long was it after labor that you felt better?

Re: **Gigs***

  • Sorry I didn't see your post sooner-- I won't lie, the mag is really unpleasant.

I had no side effects after I went off of it (thank goodness).  I was kept on it for 24 hours after delivery (so altogether I was on it for close to 48 hours).

My side effects included being REALLY hot--they kept the room like a refrigerator to try to make me comfortable, but nothing worked.

I lost a lot of muscle control, so it took effort to even keep my eyes open.

    I was really loopy.

And I had a massive massive headache.  Plus, I couldn't eat while on it, so I had a long liquid diet.

It isn't pleasant, but it is short term!

  • Thanks...that was what I was hearing.......I am really hoping to not have to take it. My BP hasn't spiked over 135/95 but I have heard that the cervadil can cause extreme contractions that may raise my BP so they prepared me for the fact that I may have to take mag if my BP continues to spike......

  • I hope you can stay off of it too--but if not, while bad, the side effects are tolerable.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your BP continues to stay down!
