Anyone have any good reference websites for this diet? I can seem to find food lists, but they vary and I want to make sure I'm eating the correct things. Probably going to end up having to buy the book but in the meantime, does anyone here have any good, reliable websites for phase one food lists?
Also, it doesn't say anywhere HOW MUCH of these things you should be having. For example, if you are having low fat cheese, can you have as much as you want? And I feel like I already messed things up this morning because I used margarine. One website said, yes, its ok, and one said no way. Grr...
Re: NBR: South Beach diet help please:)
I can't help with the websites (I have the book), but as far as amounts, he encourages you to eat until you're full, but not overfull. So you can eat as much of the cheese as you need, so long as you don't overdo it.
I ended up just buying the book. There are tons of conflicting lists out there, and it was just easier to reference what he wrote directly.
I had the book, so I didnt use any websites. But honestly, the books vary too! I would just get the actual SB diet book and dont get any others (like the shopping reference guide, etc) because they all say different things.
I dont think you are supposed to use margarine, but a little wont hurt anything! When I was following the diet I used the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray. It actually tastes really good. And you can have low fat cheese, but I think you have to have it in moderation. DH used to eat the cheese sticks all the time (like 2 a day) and have some slices of cheese as well. Then things like nuts, those are in moderation. I remember that you can have 30 pistachios, 20 peanuts, cashews were only like 15. I think the big thing on the SB diet is to eat things that will be filling so that you wont want to eat a ton of food. When I had lean meats (like chicken) I didnt really limit my portions...I would eat a breast of chicken. I didnt only eat like 4 ounes or whatever they say is normal. I mean, a piece of chicken the size of a deck of cards really isnt going to fill anyone!!! Well, at least it doesnt fill me!
The other thing I found is that when having things like mayo or salad dressing they say to get the low fat kind, not the whole fat or fat free because whole fat dressing are obviously fatty but the fat free kinds add sugar and carbs in order to reduce the fat. So low fat is the way to go!
I didnt really answer your question, but I hope i helped a little!!
) Good luck!!
My husband is on the South Beach Diet and he read the book and said it was very helpful but he also found a blog online where he gets all of our dinner recipes and most of them are pretty good! https://kalynskitchen.blogspot.com/
I hope I made it clicky, I am not good at that!
