TTC after 35

LP ? thanks

Ladies, how many days is considered a short LP? TIA Big Smile

Re: LP ? thanks

  • I believe anything under 10.

ETA: I just looked at your chart and see you have a lot of spotting.  Shorter LP and spotting might be a sign of lower progesterone.  Maybe you could ask your Dr for a progesterone test, which is done on 7dpo.

  • Well, the good news is that if you do have low progesterone, it is an easy fix. They usually just put you on clomid to strengthen your ovulation.

BTW, once I charted for a few months, I started temping only right around the time I usually ovulated and then stopped once I saw the temp shift. I got sick of charting too. I suppose that is the silver lining in all these fertility treatments I am doing--no more charting. :)

Not necessarily true on the clomid.  Clomid helps you ovulate.  But docs will put you on Prometrium which will provide you with additional progesterone if those levels are low.

Yes, also true. I did way too much research on this back when I thought this was my only issue. Ha! Some Drs think that progesterone is just treating the symptom, not the problem. So, they give clomid in the hopes of strengthening the ovulation. Some believe that just adding progesterone will do the trick.  Some will do a combination of both.

I was told my low progesterone levels were due to my advanced age and was also told that once I conceive I need to continue taking the prometrium through my first trimester.  Right now I'm taking prometrium starting on CD20 til I get my period again but am to stay on it if I get a +HPT.

I previously had spotting between my periods and turned out I had polyps, but this was several years ago and had them removed and no spotting between periods since.
